There was no jackpot winner in the Saturday night drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery game, causing the grand prize to increase to an estimated $208 million for Wednesday's drawing.
Saturday was the 11th consecutive Powerball drawing without a jackpot winner. The jackpot run started Dec. 29 as a $40 million jackpot.
The estimated cash value for the new jackpot is $130.7 million. After-tax cash and annuity prize amounts are reported state-by-state on the Jackpot Analysis page at USA Mega, a web site devoted to the Powerball and Mega Millions multi-state lottery games.
Players should note that jackpot amounts are conservative estimates provided by the lotteries, and are often somewhat higher by the time the drawing occurs.
Although there were no jackpot winners Saturday, 7 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize: 1 from Idaho, 1 from Massachusetts, 2 from New York, 1 from Pennsylvania, 1 from Texas, and 1 from Washington.
Of all the second-prize winners, only the ticket from Texas was purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1. Because they purchased the Power Play, that particular ticket is now worth $2 million.
43 tickets matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Of those tickets, 7 were purchased with the Power Play option, increasing the prize to $40,000.
The Powerball winning numbers for Saturday, February 2, were 11, 16, 33, 40, and 41, with Powerball number 34.
Following the Saturday drawing, the Powerball annuity jackpot estimate was raised $32 million from its previous amount of $176 million. The cash value was raised by $19.1 million, from its previous amount of $111.6 million.
The next Powerball drawing will take place Wednesday evening at 10:59 pm Eastern Time.
When a Powerball ticket is purchased with the Power Play option for an extra $1 per ticket, any non-jackpot prize is increased according to a fixed prize schedule, which can be found on the Powerball Drawing Detail page at USA Mega, as well as on the Powerball Prize Payouts page at Lottery Post.
Powerball is now played in 42 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. California will become Powerball's 43rd participating state when tickets go on sale in the state on April 8, 2013.
Powerball drawings are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 pm Eastern Time. Tickets cost $2 each.
The Powerball winning numbers are published at USA Mega (www.usamega.com) minutes after the drawing takes place.
I'm ready to bring this win home to Florida!! Come on Lady Luck, daddy needs some new shoes....lol!!
Come on Lottery let the people WIN that Money.
Good Luck everyone
$208 Million sounds good to me......
... come on little rhodie! win one for ... well... for me!
well ok... if its not my turn then lettle dallas win
Nothing like a brand new pair of shoes. But honestly- that kind of cash is mind boggling and to think that some folk have burned through millions of $$$$ and ended up bankrupt is beyond me.
** May fortune smile down on you.
I wagered my $2, so, here, we, go .................
Its about time it has gotten up there finally. What were those jackpot winners thinking winning it in december again and again, and not letting it get past $50 million..............lol
Hard to believe but this amount use to cause a media frenzy. Now 208 mill is barely mentioned.
This cash value amount is VERY stimulating to me!
Good luck to everyone for this Wednesday's drawing. If you live in a state that doesn't have state income tax then $73 million net (after 39.6% Federal and 3.8% Obamacare tax) should take real care of you and your family. If New Jersey is your home state, then a tad over $59 million will be your net cash amount.
On a side note, the winner can minimize their tax obligations if he/she were to donate a substantial amount to their favorite charities
Show me the $$$$$$$$
What's this extra 3.8%? Wasn't the increase to 39% enough?!
Good luck dpoly! a $98 million wire transfer to your bank should put a smile on your face if lady luck is looking upon you . Just don't forget to put aside another $25 million or so for additional Federal and Obamacare taxes
The 3.8% Obamacare tax is added to any earned or unearned income over 250k. If you win, just be glad that you are contributing your "fair share" so that the ones who don't won't classify you as evil.
Welcome to the "new" greedy uncle sam! Lol
Those standing around with their hand out don't care how much you paid in taxes, they're still gonna classify you (or me) as evil. They think your "fair share" is supposed to go to them personaly.
@Cletus2,
Are you kidding me? Who are these evil people that come to take away your minimum wage earning? Lol, some of you are laughably delusional. Ironically enought its your class of people (the one that spend insane amount of their earnings on lottery) that this goes to help. You guys are complaining of being taxed of the millions you haven't won and have one in over 170 million chance of wining?
Are you kidding me? Talk about pure delusion. Cut down on the Fox News and go outside or travel a bit. Stop demonizing the segment of a population you or some in your family unknowingly represent. The rich laughs while delusional poor fights on their behalf. I have news for you. You'll never be as rich as the people you think are being "robbed" to benefit the "parasites" You vehimnetly despise. Well at least you have 1 in 170million chance so I guess that's something. So relax and when you become rich then start demonizing others because right now you're only insulting your own intelligence.
I will avoid the lottery insanity. I will play the lottery today.
Nice dissertation.... Way to break it down.
I guess its time for the rich to "pay back" ???
I want mine in cash.
I vote for a LP member to WIN that money.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
Many people despise the class warfare (labeling rich people as "greedy", etc.) because they believe that in America, success should never be punished or derided. Even though most people will never reach the 1%, that doesn't mean that there should be a mob mentality of trying to take all of the money acquired by the people who have reached that success. That's what socialist governments do, not governments of free people.
Your comment basically says that because you or I will never be one of the 1%, we should not defend their right to keep their money. My reply to you is that I would strongly defend their right to keep their money, because nobody should be subject to that kind of treatment in America. In this country everyone is treated the same. At least they should be.
In a free society there is equal opportunity, not equal outcomes.
Still lots of vacations to be taken by TPTB.
So, under the guise of a healthcare tax...
Well said Todd, Thank you!
And I would add that the vast majority of the people who have reached that success have done so spending their lives (and sometimes generations of lives) producing the goods and services (along with the capacity to deliver those goods and services) that most of the rest of us enjoy using on a daily basis.
(Not to mention the all the creation of jobs and income that so many of us enjoy having.)
As an example, scrolling down the Forbes 400 list I see words like:
(just to name a few from the first page)
hotels, restaurants
Discount Tire
hair products,
Chick-fil-A
retail
Intel
cable television
Google
Disney
Nike
Microsoft

I remember back in the mid to late 90's the local TV stations would go film long lines waiting to buy tickets when it was 200 mil. Now the only time I read about that level of jackpot is here on LP.
208 is an amazing jackpot... but i would be quite content with the 19M MM-jp and let another LP'er take the PB
I would be happy with either side of that trade off.......
I think the real point is that no one "class" should have the burden of bringing in the $$$. It's funny that when they redid the bankruptcy laws your required to go through a credit counseling course to understand the concept of " don't spend more than you bring in." Yet the same people who put that into law can't seem to follow those same basic principles.
I'm not talking about minimum wage earnings, doofus.I'm talking about winning the lottery and the people who come out of the woodwork expecting a handout. If anyone is delusional its you.Yeah,I have a one in 170 million chance of becoming so rich that I can pretty much do what I want, the same chance that EVERYONE who plays the lottery has.And people do win so I guess that my chances of winning are no worse than anyone elses.I'll demonize ANYONE that thinks they are entitled to my money. And I'll demonize you because you seem to me like you are one of those parasites that stand around with your dirty little hands out expecting a free ride from people that work for a living.Get a job, deadbeat!
So the last time we were near this point it took only what, 3 rolls to get to madness. Anyone think it could do it again?
Counting on it to happen one more time before cali gets in the game.
Whatever makes the jackpot increase faster is ok with me! Hopefully it helps with the extra sales.
People who think like you () are running the country now, so calm down.
Go to your happy place.
That would be awesome!
Nobody likes a Debbie Downer. Go somewhere else with your negative vibes please.
And thank you, Todd, for getting it right to the point with this " In a free society there is equal opportunity, not equal outcomes. "
Good luck everybody! I'm putting up about 5 of those 1 in over 170 million (1 in 175,223,510) chances for the Wednesday draw. Plus I got another 5 of those 1 in 175,711,536 chance for the MM tonight.
Party on!
I agree.
You're right ... that amount is mind boggling! I seriously think that MOST people don't have a concept of what a million is, let alone $208 million.
Personally, I wouldn't want that much. I would really like to win about $5 million. I don't have to worry about winning the $208 M, because I don't even play MM or PB. I refuse to play a game with odds as absurdly high as those games, as long as I have a better option. My game is Hot Lotto. I have to cross into Kansas to play ... but one plus is that WHEN I win, I can collect anonymously in KS.
I spent many many years playing Missouri Lotto, but finally felt like I wasn't winning enough of the smaller prizes, so decided to change my game. I do feel like I need to at least play a game that starts at a million ... so I have the possibility of retirement. I'd be nervous to quit my job if it weren't at least 1.5 - 2.0 million.
CALIFORNIA will be joining soon in APRIL. will have lots of winners!
I will wait till the pot gets to either 251 or 256 million before I play, goodluck to the ones who will play.....
GOOD LUCK to everyone playing PB !!! ...Better yet, GOOD LUCK to everyone playing ANY game !!!
First of all Welcome to the Lottery Post, and I hope that your experience here will be fulfilling, and I believe that it will be.
Your Courage to speak up against unwarranted and unnecessary denigration of others affirms the basis of my belief.
I agree with you and I applaud you for the Courage to bring forth profoundly and succinctly, to the attention of many in this post, that its is not right at all, to harbour and advance contemptuous, and disdainful views, opinions and false perception and representations of the marginalized of our society, as such positions in life, presumes, infallibility, invincibility, and a privileged fixed and un-changing immunity from potential real and possible dangers, issues, problems, hardships, e.t.c. that could come to bear on any living event, including each and everyone of us humans, at any time in one's tenure of life and existence on earth, without warning and notice.
Your comments about those standing around that classify you and Jill as evil is untrue, baseless and unfounded.
If they have knowledge of you and Jill as you have admittedly claimed to have knowledge of them, then you should have the decency to reciprocate the gesture with a little more dignity in representation of their state in life to Internet readers. However, since they have no knowledge of you and Jill, there is no opinion positive or negative that is held and/or espoused about and you and Jill as evil by these persons, so mockingly referred to, as those standing around with their hand out
You keep forgetting one thing that "those standing around with their handouts" have also been known for the record, to win in many departments of life, saving lives, money, etc, etc. I believe that there was a homeless person that had won $25m or so in one of the games and countless others who were down on thier knees, that you could not see the invisible signs that they held and carried around alright, have had their states and conditions in life turned around with cash, work, education, careers, just opportunity granted etc.
This is such a silly argument I don't even know where to begin. I get the Fox News' narrative some of you follow but I also can't help but wonder why and how you failed to realize the silliness in a loaded statment with buzz words such as this.
No one is waging a class warfare (despite the buzz words you hear on Fox) but since income rate has decreased for 95% of working Americans within the last two decades while at the same time imrpoving by over 200% for the top 1% earners, pointing out the unfairness of the system is not only necessary but crucial. Do you guys even know the new tax rate (that's supposed to rip the rich people off) is the same rate as it was during the Clinton era prior to Bush slashed it?
As far as "greedy"... corporate bonues within the last two decades have grown by 1000% percent while average wage has stagnated. That's far from "equal opportunity". I don't know what kind of work that deserves a $10 million bonus a year. Investment earnings have exploded and taxes from said earnings were slashed during Republican administrations to help a few individuals that can invest and earn insane retuns. That type of setting has shifted a considerable amount of the economy to the specualtive section of the sector. These types of enviorments with little to no oversight helped a few of those with incredible connection and opportunity to strangle the economy and those in Wall St to gamble entire fortunes of millions of people in order to benefit their "investors". These situations have had dire consequences that affected more than 95% of the population.
I always wondered what makes a rather rational people like you defend a position such as this. Is it lack of education? inability to underatsnd complex issues such as this? is it because they let somene else (like those on TV) do the thinking for them?
In conclusion, there is no "class warfare" that was waged despite the scare tactic that was used by the rich. I find it ironic and almost laughable the people that defend these positions and proclaim American freedom get their news from a network owned by an Australian and a Saudi Arabian. Those two guys are brilliant. What an investment. <snip> I wish I had thought of a business model that was founded and depends on scaring the hell out of poor Americans while earning millions. Now, that's American capitalism at its finest. Make the money somehow I guess.
Thank you,
It's refreshing to see someone with above average intelligence that understands a complex subject such as this.
I find this new found attitude of demonizing these invinsble "parasites" who are our mothers, sisters, brother, cousins, police officers, fire fighters, high school football coaches and e.t.c incredibly disturbing. Guys who make 20 million a year on Fox scare the guy that earns $35k and you see common sense being thrown out the window.
"Class warfare" is nothing new. In a nation with a unique and might I add disturbing history like America, it was used on multiple occasions and in different forms. It was once "race warfare" prior to that it was "ethnicity warfare". All these words and misguided descriptions were used to describe a social setting that did not conform with reality.
Anyways, I can only hope that this nation will gradually have more educated voters that can understand issues and vote based on facts and not emotion.
One point I'd like to add is that America loves demonizing. It's embedded in the culture and is the only advanced nation to do it so. It is part of it's long and complex history. People in this country have always had to choose side while embracing a "gang mentality" to demonize others. It was done to Native Americans, African Americans and every immigrant group, from the Irish that once were considered sub human to present day Latinos. That's the American legacy. It's very complex but needed to be put in persepctive when discussing such matters. It'll change forms and descriptions but will be here. The challenge is having an educated and smart electorate that can see thru the fog and loud noises.
Thank you and Good Luck!
Well as we all know now that those who have rule and those who don't drool....LOL I say tax the crap out of the rich until I become one then I'll go in with a group of other rich folks and buy me a congressman to get what I want i.e. lower taxes.....but until then yeah tax them tax the crap out of them....Equality is the American way...Yeah cause money cant buy you your freedom...oh wait ask OJ Simpson about that one...Money can buy you health...Dont know didnt some old baseball player get TWO kidney transplants and STILL died......Can money buy you a politician?? Heck yeah!!! LOL All of them get "campaign funds....why does it cost 100 million to run for president??? Yeah money is the great divider...and I am on the side of which I've got....like I said when I get rich....I'll be for the riches rights until then they can pay out the wazoo like I got to...
Let's go Michigan! Jackpot winner for mega last night and let's get the powerball tonight!
And here you are waging class warfare!
I highly doubt you know what the word means but good luck in your attempt to sound smart.
Anyways, good luck tonight everyone. I wish all of you the best.
Haha!! Thanks for the laugh!
You got busted being a hypocrite, and thats all you got for a comeback?
Your just a crybaby, BOO HOO HOO, CEO'S are getting big bonuses, whats stopping you from being successful? Whats your excuse for not getting ahead in the world? Whats holding you back, Oh, that right, that would be you!
Get your facts right before you open your crybaby mouth, the only one who sounds stupid is you!
corporate bonues within the last two decades have grown by 1000% percent while average wage has stagnated.
He sounds like a script writer for the Wolf Blizzard TV show....
Yes, ha ha ha , very funny b2b........
How much money the government takes from EVERYONE is what we should be talking about.... NOT how much they from this one over that one.............
LOL Ronnie.... you play all the time!
Good luck!
lol. Everyday is a new day, and a new opportunity. lol.
Looked up where the winning mega ticket was sold in Michigan, if they drive thats about a 9 hr (500 miles) trip one way to lansing to claim it. I wonder if the time would go by quick or drag out slowly. lol
I have a feeling it will be like being on vacation.
He sounds familiar, only here to push an agenda.
Right, the same old spam pushing trolls just keep coming back and quoting CNN scripts.
At least they have enough time to wait until spring and the weather is better before making the trip.
Is this $208 million just a marketing ploy?
"Jackpot winner(s) will receive their prize in annual installments over a 29-year period unless, within 60 days from the date they claim their prize, they request the Cash Option"
So what if it was changed from 29 year period to 100 year period. Would the jackpot be over $600 million?
The only thing that really matters is the cash option in my opinion.
WOW>>>>>CIDER:
if u keep bn dslusional,>play'n class people ginst one nother>>
RU delusional????????when U become RICH then U vehimnetly
dispise "PARASITS">>>>>>>like>>>>>>>UR>>>SELF!!!!!!!!
Good luck to everyone tonight!
I think most everyone in the world knows the "cash option" is less than the advertised jackpot.
Cider could get a big head start, and begin dispising himself now?
I bought a 5 line PB ticket today.
So I walked in the store today and told the clerk I was going to be like the guy in Fountain Hills who spent $10. and won around $200 million. He looked at me and smiled as if he was thinking of winning it himself. lol.
Aren't we one of the few if not the only one to do an advertised annuity amount?
I only follow the lotteries that I play, so I would not know.
I spent my usually $20 when it gets around this amount
Good choice. I wonder if it is high enough yet for people like Boney who need a certain "EV" to play?
I take it you're stuck on 12
I am visiting family in Maryland so I may splurge on a few and will pick 12 for one of them. Good luck!
If 12 hits I'm gonna laugh!
LOL. Thanks.
Its actually very funny anytime I hit a bonus number because "overcoming the odds is impossible"
Got my tickets from a liquor store (didn't buy booze though) in the small town I just moved to. They sold a winning state lottery ticket a few years ago. The clerk was kind of creepy though. Had that pale skin tone, very thin, and odd disposition. Kind of a mix of a mortician and zombie. To top it off he had a lackey standing beside with his arm in his coat. Thought he was going to whip out an axe and do me in. I kinda backed out of the store, didnt want to turn my back. GOT THE TICKETS THOUGH!
Nice work. We are all hoping that one pays a jackpot so you dont have to go back.
YIKES! Go back... I never considered that. I agree. let's hope!
My area code is 208 ... which guarantees that I will win.
How do I play PB number 208?
Dang, based on the logic I have to wait until the jackpot reaches almost 800 million, and it never has.
Shouldn't be long before they decide they need 208 white balls to get a billion dollar jp. Patience, grasshopper.
20 x 8 = 160
160 + 20 = 180
20 + 8 = 28
180 + 28 = 208
Therefore you play the PB number 12!
It's perfect.
If I remember right 16 tickets last year beat the odds with a jackpot win. And they be laughin all the way to the bank.lol
Exacty right, the odds get "beat" all the time. lol. lol. I'm sure it seems real easy for those who win.
I like to laugh... I like going to the bank... I like lottery tickets... As I see it I should be the next one laughing all the way to the bank. Anyone have the Loomis Armoured Car Service phone number?
My son works for Loomis. lol. Just PM me and I will send him over. lol.
To bad they don't make $100,000 notes anymore. It would be so much simpler. I could put all $130,000,000 (after taxes) in a ziplock freezer bag and shove it in a wall... or maybe sew it into the curtains.
I would toss it in the front seat of the car and let it ride around with me. lol.
Could also use a small stack to level that dang annoying table leg that rocks.
Its been fun...... Have a good night everyone.
excellent usage for the green-backs... leveling all the floor joists.
And green so it is environmentally friendly.
Let it roll, let it roll, let it roll.........lol
Uh yeah, whatever...
Good Lord.
God help us if this is an example of the younger generation.
Are you kiddin me?!
