New Jersey LotteryNew Jersey Lottery: NJ Pick 6 lottery drought ends as $20.1M jackpot won

LACEY, NJ — The long New Jersey Lottery Pick 6 drought is finally over.

After 52 drawings and more than six months without any ticket matching all the winning numbers in the twice-weekly game, someone got lucky Monday night in Lacey, New Jersey.

One ticket purchased at 7-Eleven on Lacey Road in the Forked River section of town is worth $20.1 million, lottery officials said this morning. The winning numbers were 3, 12, 18, 34, 35, and 42.

There are two 7-Elevens on Lacey Road — the winning ticket was sold at the store at the the intersection of Holmes Avenue North.

The winner chose the cash option, so his or her actual prize is $14,158,641 before taxes are deducted.

New Jersey Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger said, "I am looking forward to meeting the ticketholder whose life will drastically change by this financial windfall. Financial worries have just been removed and now the winner can explore their life's dreams. That's what winning the lottery is all about — giving your dreams a chance."

Hedinger reported that in addition to the jackpot win, 22 players won $2,471 in cash prizes in the drawing for correctly picking five numbers, another 992 players won cash prizes of $60 each for correctly matching four numbers, and 19,202 players won $3.00 each for correctly matching three numbers.

There hadn't been a jackpot hit since Dec. 12, 2013 when an Allendale couple won $12.8 million.

The $20.1 million prize is the sixth-largest Pick 6 prize since 2001. It also ends the second-longest drought without a jackpot since 2001. On June 25, 2012, a $21.5 million ticket was sold after 55 consecutive drawings without a top prize winner.

The jackpot for drawing re-sets to $2 million with a cash option of $1.4 million.

Meanwhile, the new Cash4Life game made it debut Monday night. No one won either $1,000 a day for life or $1,000 a week for life. The winning numbers drawn were 9, 36, 44, 53, and 59, with Cash Ball number 3.  Players can also win consolation prizes ranging from $2 to $2,500.

Cash4Life is a multi-state lottery game being run in conjunction with the New York Lottery.  The drawings take place in New Jersey on Monday and Thursday nights at approximately 9:00.

You have to choose how you get paid when buying the ticket? that's awful. Why not decide when claiming? NJ Lottery is failing us

    It's a futile effort.

Lived here long enough to remember when there was no cash option,

no problem w/ taking cash option @ purchase, I can always get my own annuity if I want.

No, my gripe is w/ the 10.8 % state tax, a law that was passed in the middle of the night.

39.6 % plus 10.8 % and you can easily figure you're paying 1/2 what you won,

the winner will net about about 7 MILS.

Now don't get me wrong, 7 MILS. is quite enough for me, but Jersey is going to pump that 10.8 % down a Rathole !

I remember when they introduced that tax and backdated it to the beginning of that year. That was some major b.s.

New Jersey Lottery pick 6 game Jackpot $20.1 Million= 3,12,18,34,35,42

Ohio Classic Lottery Jackpot $73.1 Million=3,8,26,28,34,35

(both games kept rolling without a winner for a very long time)

(both games have 50% of the same numbers on the draw)

(both games have been won in the same week)

(both games in my opinion are organized crime)

There is a extremely simple solution.

                Don't play.

CAN'T WIN IF YOU'RE NOT IN

There is a simple solution "Don't Play" but there is a need to express an emotion that has run so deep with anger due to the reality of cheating going on. When you have believed in something and have really thought it was for the good and a chance, it hurts to find out it was all a scam. So this is not about a simple freaking solution, it is about creating the awareness as to what is truly going on.

You may not have got to this point I'm at because you probably didn't spend over $100k before you realize your results with that amount of money spent over a 6 year duration will tell you their is scamming going on. This lottery stuff is just an illusion and it once was a nice chance at a pretty penny but now its just the same as everything else in America including the "American Dream" a vicious SCAM!!! SO DON'T TELL ME ABOUT A FREAKING SIMPLE SOLUTION!!!

I think the lottery has made it very clear that playing lottery is entertainment, not a money-making scheme.  If you have 100k to spend on entertainment over a 6-year span, then go for it, if that's what you like to do.

To say it's a scam would indicate that they are cheating.  But in fact they are not cheating -- especially in both Ohio and New Jersey, since both states use traditional lottery ball machines to generate the numbers.  And they publish the odds of winning all over the place, so it's not like they are hiding anything.

I understand frustration that the random numbers drawn do not match the ones on your ticket.  We all experience that.  But the simple fact is that only a tiny percentage of lottery players will ever win the jackpot, so translating your frustration into a statement that the lottery is a "scam" is wrong and misplaced.
