Whittaker Robbed Again and Again
Insider Buzz: Whittaker Robbed Again and Again
The man who won the largest single lottery jackpot in U.S. history has had a run of bad luck this week: He's been robbed twice and sued. Police said the business office of Jack Whittaker (search), who hit the $314.9 million Powerball jackpot on Christmas 2002, was broken into Tuesday and $2,000 was taken. On Thursday, Whittaker's vehicle at his home was broken into and property was stolen. State Police spokesman Sgt. Jay Powers said he could not release details. No arrests have been made. Earlier in the week, Whittaker was sued by an employee of a Cross Lanes racetrack and casino who alleged he assaulted her in March 2003. He has not responded to the civil suit, and has not been charged with any crime. In January, in separate incidents, Whittaker was charged with threatening to kill the manager of a bar and with drunken driving. Both cases are pending. Also in January, his vehicle was broken into and $100,000 was taken. No arrests were made. In August, Whittaker was allegedly drugged while at a strip club and a briefcase with more than $500,000 was stolen from his vehicle. The money was recovered and two club employees were arrested.

This guy should write a book. I would love to read what he has to say about all this and how he and his family have been coping with all this....might want to title it "Lotteries Brat Pack"... "Everybody has to believe in something...I believe I'll have another beer!" = W.C.Fields

Yep, heard this on the radio last week. Like i have been saying, ol' Jack has never failed to disappoint us by having his weekly claim to shame. Agree with all of you. this guy should know better. Did anyone else catch the story two weeks ago about how he assulted the girl at the casino? That's our jack!

The amazing thing to me is with the money Jack won, he could literally live anywhere in the world and do just about anything he wanted. I couldn't pack up and move to New Zealand or Switzerland or even to a Kauai bungalow, but Jack could. There are so many sights and experiences available to someone with that kind of money. But he goes to racetracks, bars, casinos, strip clubs, the kind of places with desperate people looking for money, places where trouble will find you. The only good thing about Jack is that everyone here knows they could handle $314 million better than Jack.
