Powerball Powerball: 2 charged in theft from Powerball lottery winner

Two men were charged Tuesday with stealing $100,000 from the winner of the biggest undivided lottery jackpot in U.S. history.

Brian Christopher Hillabold and David Michael Fewell, both 20, were jailed on charges of breaking into Jack Whittaker's sport utility vehicle Jan. 17. The vehicle was parked outside Whittaker's home.

Authorities began investigating the pair after learning they spent $7,000 to $8,000 on clothing in a department store.

The men told police that a third person took the money and gave them $10,000 each, sheriff's Detective Shawn Johnson said. That person has not been charged.

Whittaker won a Powerball prize of nearly $315 million on Christmas Day 2002. Since then, money has been stolen from his vehicle three times, and his business has been burglarized.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. If I ever get lucky all anyone will know is that my lawyer claimed the prize for me!

Well looks as if they caught the robbers.  Real smart blowing the cash like that.

Anybody who leaves 100,000 in ther ride while they sleep off a drunk. Is crazy you don't leave that kind of cash laying around anywhere. This jack is a real clown he tells everybody he's a millionair and leaves cash in his car. It's like he get a kicks out of tempting people to take advantage of him. Pretty soon we will here he got shot or shot sombody.

If you will be investigated for spending $7000 in a department store, what would they think if you went on a shopping spree if you won?

Playing more than one ticket per game is betting against yourself.
