New Jersey LotteryNew Jersey Lottery: N.J. Man Wins $35 Million Lottery Jackpot

A Little Egg Harbor, NJ man has come forward with a winning lottery ticket worth an annuity prize of $35.5 million, New Jersey Lottery officials announced Wednesday.

John Purdue held the only winning ticket in the May 10 Pick 6 drawing. The prize was the largest in the Pick 6 Lotto since $45.9 million was awarded in the June 3, 2002, drawing.

Purdue chose the cash option and received a check for more than $18 million, minus the 25 percent federal withholding tax, according to New Jersey Lottery Executive Director Virginia S. Bauer.

Purdue was the second person to buy a winning Pick 6 ticket in Ocean County in less than six months. Former Brick residents Kathleen and Joe Keleman, who now reside in Florida, won $10 million in the drawing on Dec. 29, 2003, after buying their ticket at a 7-11 convenience store in Brick.

Purdue bought his winning ticket at Rite Aid in Tuckerton.
