Lottery jackpot magic strikes twice for Wisconsin family

Wisconsin LotteryWisconsin Lottery: Lottery jackpot magic strikes twice for Wisconsin family

Gerri Holat of St. Francis, Wisconsin, a Milwaukee suburb, has hit the Megabucks jackpot twice sort of.

A dozen years after her father, John Smit of Franklin, won a $2.7 million Megabucks jackpot, her husband Dennis hit a $2.5 million jackpot.

I always feel especially lucky whenever the jackpot gets around $2.5 million, and its because of Gerris dad, Dennis said.

The Holats are regular Megabucks players, but Dennis didnt check his numbers for the Oct. 6 drawing until after the Oct. 13 drawing.

His numbers 12, 13, 26, 40, 41 and 44 were winners.

Having two jackpots in the same family is a first in the state, Wisconsin Lottery officials said.

Gerri said she started screaming in the car when her husband told her the news after he picked her up from her part-time job.

Theyve chosen the $1.38 million cash option, which means they will pocket just more than $942,000 after taxes.

Gerri said shell continue to work, while Dennis keeps reminding her of the experimental airplane she agreed to let him build and fly when you win the lottery.

    The first jackpot was annuity-only.

Amazing how some families can beat odds of a trillion to one , and some people cant beat pick three odds of 1000 to one.

luck is a strange thing,it is just beyond most of our grasps but for some people they end up hitting it two or three times and most that do win play only occasionally and are not serious lottery players...........

Here's some incredible luck less than 12 years apart. From masslottery.com.

For the second time this year, Hendrick R. Johnson of Chelmsford has walked into Powers Wine Company in Lowell and walked out a million richer. Johnson won $ 1 million on a Wild Millions instant ticket that he bought at the store. He arrived at Lottery headquarters this morning to claim his prize. He will collect $50,000, less taxes, annually for the next nineteen years.

Johnson good fortune at Powers Wine began on August 11th when he won a $1 million prize on a Lifetime Spectacular instant game. Powers Wine good fortune began on April 13th this year when it sold a winning $100,000 Mass Cash ticket. Then on July 3rd Powers Wine hit pay dirt when it sold the winning ticket of the largest jackpot in Massachusetts history, a $294,000,000 Mega Millions ticket. The store received a $50,000 commission for selling the ticket. The store will receive a $10,000 commission for each of the $1 million prizes.

The Lifetime Spectacular instant game is a ten-dollar ticket that offers ten prizes of $200,000 for a lifetime and 50 $1 million prizes. The odds of hitting the $1 million jackpot on Lifetime Spectacular are 1: 1,612,800. The Wild Millions instant games is a five-dollar ticket that offers 10 $1 million prizes. The odds of hitting a $1 million prize in the Wild Millions game are 1: 3,024,000.

Sounds like Mr Johnson is a double loser.

If only he were as rich as you, then he might be a winner.

50,000 a year for the next 19 years is a white collar career for alot of people, double that and you just made CEO of a small company......and you don't have to worry about getting fired and losing your life style......no loser here .....

                    This is a true story...

I was at his photo shoot with the big check and all...

I shook his hand and congratuated him... (Dennis Holat)

                    The luck rubbed off...

2 days later, I go down to Illinois and play the Illinois lotto...

I picked up ticket at a gas station...

On one of the tickets I get 5 ot of 6 for $1,590.50... (16 in the whole state)

I only got part of his luck. because one more would have been $5.5 mil...

I took the day off work to pick up my check today...

The $2.5 mil ticket was purchased 1000 ft from my house.. (Dennis and Gerri's)

some people have all the luck. look at the guy from kansas who has already won a jackpot twice. there was even a guy from PA who has won 3 or 4 jackpots. it really makes you think.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.
