If you won a lottery jackpot..........
Quote: Originally posted by rundown99 on February 18, 2005Despite the option of forming a blind trust and remaining anonymous, it seems like many people are going public instead. What are your thoughts?I think it varies depending on the state. In some states, a trust or LLC can be used to claim winnings, while in others it cannot. In my state, winnings can be claimed through a trust and that is how I would do it. I wouldn't do the press conference, interviews, or anything like that. I wouldn'

Why are lottery winners dying??
It seems to me that negative stories make the news because they are more interesting (to the general public) than the positive stories. You always hear of how a lottery winner lost it all after winning or how he died right after winning the big one. You dont hear much of how peoples lives have been positively impacted by winning the lottery.I guess the world we live in today is the world where people's misery is more interesting. Just like how old Jack is in trouble with the law. But you dont he

winning ticket
enterceptorr,I looked at some of the winners' stories on the Texas Lottery website. Although some people of means have won, not all of the winners have been rich. One notable winner was a dog catcher in Marfa. If people in pools get special tickets, can't poor people also be in pools and get special tickets? I'm willing to at least listen to any proof you might have that lotteries are rigged in favor of the rich, but I don't think you've shown how there could really be such a bias. Anybody can bu

Georgia to sell tickets online
Another thing people are forgetting in this debate is how will the GA Lottery get you your ticket? It is currently against USPS regulations to allow the mailing of lottery tickets across state lines. This restricts states like VA, which offer a subscription play by mail option for their jackpot games, to only allowing those with in-state mailing addresses to play. I know that MA gets around this by sending out their tickets via UPS, which completely avoids the USPS problem. The only other optio

Did you ever wonder?
I don't believe anyone is entiltled to win or for that matter no one is more derserving. My only personal disappointment comes from hearing millionaires win, that sucks, I mean they already live a decent life and earn more than 70% of most Americans. It's not encouraging for me to hear those stories, it simply sucks. I hope a bright, ambitious individual wins, someone that will do something with the money and not take it to strip clubs like the last big winner in West Va. I mean the guy was alre

V-DUDE : mr. quick-pick
I, too, find it rather odd that records of Big Game/Mega Millions winners aren't readily available. Although I seldom play Powerball, I do enjoy reading the Winners' Stories on the powerball.com website. The information includes the winner's name, where the ticket was purchased, quick pick or personal numbers, and annuity or cash option. Some winners chose to be anonymous, and one unknown winner even had their cash option put into a trust and a trustee picked up the winnings. Anyway, I find

Make the media wait as long as possible. I f anyone wins in
Just wait till something big hits the news. Usually bad news are the top stories, but if I won I would wait till the media is preoccupied with something else. And Rock if you waited till the last week, the media would be buzzing wondering what happened to the winner. Like last year here in Jersey, some guy bought a winning Pick 6 ticket, and he didn't even know! He just shoved the ticket in the drawer and like a few days before if expired he mailed it in! HE MAILED IT! He should drove down to Tr

The Lottery Changed My Life
Yes, it's a goodly sum of money; that's why I wrote much , comparing his win against even the starting points of the two national lotteries. I know many folks won't play the lottery until it gets on up there , 100+ million bucks. Wasn't it just a bit over a yr. ago when we were all fantasizing about winning $1.5 billion? I think I enjoy his story so much because I identify with him in so many ways; I've been nearly as broke as he was at the time he won and we are both older guys who recent

Playing PB with The Power Play in New York?
Yes they would CT! I've always said that the lotteries are always one step ahead of the players (actually way more than that!). ABSOLUTELY! I couldn't agree more! Certainly The NY State Lottery is way ahead of ME! And I've no doubt that they are very much hoping many people play the same set of numbers on one Sweet Million ticket. I cant claim to be the orginator of the idea of playing the same line multiple times on a single Sweet Million ticket. I saw something unusual happen in a tow

Winning at Lotto : Luck vs. Intelligence
Lotto winners have stories to tell, when we listen to what they say;we agree that maybe it was their good FATE reward.I have played many years and never had 5 of 6# or 5 numbers in a 5number game. 30 years later I still play to win and I will have my good Fate story to tell. I also wonder if one has to be prepared to win big money at one time; I can recall instances where the winner ends up being a victim of misfortune,so you wonder did that person really win. I some time question if I am rea
