Setting a trust for anonymity: how does it work?
Sorry about the delay in replying... a couple of days ago I had posted a couple of links to some news stories (about what generally happens to large jackpot lottery winners) in my message and my account was suspended on suspicion of spamming... Anyhow, thanks to Todd and his gracefulness, I'm online again... Thank you so much, joshuacloack, for taking the time to contribute here your wisdom... it is very much appreciated. The problem with setting two trusts, IMHO, with the second one being a

More News on Jack
In a filing made in response to Caesars lawsuit, Whittaker said the casino actually owes him money because it agreed to give him a percentage of revenue from a slot machine he developed and to credit his gambling losses. The casino, owned by Harrah's Entertainment Inc., filed the lawsuit in 2005, a year after it said the bad checks were written. The case came to light recently when the documents were subpoenaed in an unrelated wrongful-death lawsuit against Whittaker. A couple of points

Funny Lottery Stories?
For some reason my Funniest Lottery Stories thread was closed. It was closed despite being only about 5 weeks old. I clicked on it to make a new reply and saw it was closed. Lottery Post closes threads automatically after THREE MONTHS, so I am baffled it is already closed after about only 5 weeks. It should have still been active. I'm going to try again. Chris Hansen did a Lottery Sting YEARS ago before the Ding ding! Winning Lottery Winner was implemented. A Clerk failed the test and cl

Pennsylvania $457 million jackpot winners kept anonymous
I actually prefer big winners having their basic identity revealed eventually, just because it helps to show that the whole thing isn't rigged. Some Ma Pa nobodies from a small rural town, as well as some people struggling in impoverished urban environments, and so on, should be winning sometimes, and I like to see that. I do think though that winners should be given some months after claiming their winning, before their identity and story is revealed. They should be given time to make decisions

Big Tax Hike on Lottery Winnings
I never said either applied to the big jackpot winner! Re-read my post. My point was that slanting stories to make all people believe they are screwed is self-serving NY/CA media propaganda. I have seen so many crap stories about the tax cuts that I had to blow off steam. BTW, Floyd, are you a tax professional?

Cynthia Stafford's Home In Foreclosure and Bentley For Sale
psykomo, i tend to agree with you. After reading so many stories of Big Jackpot Money Winners who go broke, I have become numb to it. Maybe they did it their way and spent every dime and had a good time. Everyone has a different dream when they buy lottery tickets of what they'd do with the money. Spend it, donate it, gift it, invest it, lose it, party it away, Whatever.... The Winner and her trainer boyfriend.

Are you ready for the attention?
I would say: I am not ready for it and probably no one really is. But I am getting a few tickets anyway. All I (and probably many people) want is to have say $5 million to be able to quit work, have a nice house, be able to travel and have some fun and get some nice things and help a few friends. I think I could deal with the money, assuming I had good lawyers and investment people to keep it safe; that would be figures on a screen and sort of abstract to me. What would be hard to deal with woul

Would you stop playing the lottery if you were restricted to Quick Picks?
WHICH HAS THE BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING: COMPUTER PICKS OR PLAYER PICKS? About 70% to 80% of purchases are computer picks. About 70% to80% of winners are computer picks. Perhaps just one of those weird coincidences? I'm sure that's true when talking about the the 200K to 400K winners of 0+1 to 5+1 that's possible every drawing but players who ask that question are more concerned about the top 1 to 10 winners who match 5+0 to 5+1 most drawings and no one is releasing that information. Special Circumstance Anonymity Protection?
I may have phrased that incorrectly. I didn't mean she would stay at the shelter AFTER she won, but that she was at the shelter WHEN she won. Meaning she's hiding out in a safe place where her abuser can't get to her. Maybe a shelter, maybe a friend or relative, maybe an extended motel. Look at what happened to Gloria. She didn't want a press conference but the lottery called the press while she was doing the paperwork and she got waylaid outside the office. She was stalked by the media for w
