thoughts on lottery syndicates
I think you are getting a little mixed up. The 36 second prize winners each got 1M because each bought their own ticket. So there were 36 tickets that had the same numbers. In a lottery pool of say 10 people. You won't buy 10 duplicate tickets for each member. So if in your collection of tickets one wins the second prize. They won't ask you how many you are so that each gets their own 1M. I hope that makes sense. The pick 3, 4, and 5 games unfortunately are not in all states is n

WHO is going to show you how to win w/ positive R.O.I. Long term
Maybe you can use your grade school math to explain what happened to the 299 million other outcomes. I'd be happy to help you with some grade school math. You can take the 299 million figure to compute the probability of not winning the jackpot when you buy 1 million tickets: 299,000,000/300,000,000 = 299/300 = 99.666667% chance of not winning the jackpot. Again, what is the confusion? This is, as you say, grade school math. Let's pretend Alaska started offering the lottery and

7 States I Would Not Live In
There are reasons why the other states don't have Lottery.... Alabama- You have to be able to count. Alaska- You can't play any numbers cause ALL the numbers are cold. Hawaii: They think ping pong balls is an appetizer made with a starchy binder and SPAM. Mississippi: Lottery employees and their family members are not allowed to play the lottery. That leaves about 15 people left eligible to play in the whole state. Not a viable income source for the state. Utah: Losing tickets cou

Lets say you won pb/mm jackpot, where would you travel to"give details"
What a great thread, lots of interesting ideas and places! Personally, I'd have to buy a house someplace warm for the winter. That would be the first thing. Then, for places I'd like to go? Relaxing in the Florida Keys. Bass fishing in the land of 10,000 lakes (Minnesota). Skiing in Colorado. Cruise to Alaska. I'd also have to get myself a Harley for cruising on warm spring days. Sounds like a plan to me!

Statistically Speaking - QP's and PP's
CT pulls the same tactic:Redirection and personality innuendos when he will not talk the talk because his best bet is to change the topic, it just takes more to get you to fall-in that same line. You and him are from the same JOKER mold. Politics? West coast people should be questioned and avoided for personality traits? YOU BETCH A to quote a famous west coast r and double talking politician. Go wag your own dogs. DD You should see how fast and big the radishes grow in Alaska! Hep yers

Nine Other States Possibly Joining Mm Or Pb. Is This A Win Lose Situation?
Have you all ever thought that if there was a national lottery, just 1 that the matrix would not have been 5/56 or 5/59 but instead 5/96 or 5/110 + Pick1/50 for bonus ball or something like that....Just pray that MegaMillions and Powerball dont combine... what about Alaska.... Anyways, thanks to God we have Bigatoo difference number system because that's the only system that will work against a Pick5/110 + Pick1/50 for bonus ball... Remember it don't matter if is powerball or megamillio

New State Lotteries
Utah - No, Mormons Alabama - Very doubtful Alaska and Wyoming - Population not enough to generate any mentionable jackpots? Hawaii- No- Yakuza, they ruin all the illegal games already and don't want any competiton Nevada - No, the casinos see a lottery as a threat. Mississippi - For right now, no. Same thinking as Nevada, but how many Mississippi dollars go across state lines for lotto (that's what finally made Tennesse give in - Tennesseans crossing state lines to plat l

How Long Will It Be Until We Have A Lotto Billionaire ?
I think if they raise the prize of each ticket from 1 dollar to 2 dollars, each year the jackpot will reach around 750 million and if they raise the ticket to 3 dollars it will definately reach to 1 billion dollars once a year....I champion the idea that they should raise the ticket from 1 dollar to at least 2 or 3 dollars....Some people may disagree with me...If they were to merge MM PB and keep the price of each ticket to 1 dollar i say the jackpot will reach 1 billion dollars every 4 or 5 m

The ever increasingly inflated jackpot prizes for MM and PB
When interest rates were stable, the take home cash value after federal taxes was around 1/3 of the advertised jackpot. Setting aside the fact the United States is the only country that taxes lottery wins Never lived in Bulgaria so don't know if they tax gambling winnings or not, but in the U.S. lottery winnings are defined as gambling winnings and is defined as income. Winners get a W-2G for $600 or more if the amount is at least 300 times the wager (the payer has the option to reduce

State taxes - my experience
I love that Trust idea. Do you have to set up the Trust before you hit the jackpot? What kind of Trust is best for this? According to Investopedia, Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming do not levy state income taxes, while New Hampshire doesn t tax earned wages. South Dakota has a Registration of Trust cost of $125. From greensfelder.com, States where you can avoid income taxes In states such as Kansas you can avoid state i
