if you won a jackpot where in the world would you choose to live?
I would continue to live in my home of residence, but I would definetly do some traveling and would probally have a winter home somewhere because it is so damn cold in Alaska. I always wanted to go to Hawaii or Mexico, and the Caribean or Central America would be nice. Then I would definetly like to go down to M.I.A.M.I. But Money Is a Major Issue!!!!!!! As usual Just holding on like a hub cap in the fast lane. I sure would like to start planning if my numbers hit Saturday!

Alaskan Lottery...
While i was reading my statistics books, i read something interesting from the factworld on the book...The books is elementary statistics 9th edition by Mario F. Triola.. I am 97% quoting: Each spring since 1917, in the small town of Nenana (or Tanana), Alaska they had a lottery with people betting on the exact time that their Tanana River would break up...The prize is around 300,000...The way they do this is they place a tripod on the frozen river and they connect it to a clock..the clo

what state do you see joining the lottery next?
Judging by the comments, Arkansas has three strikes (no career opportunities/money, gambling industry ties, and religious issues) against it and as result will not get a lottery any time soon. It also looks like most of the other states without a lottery excluding Alaska and Wyoming are in the same boat. My new picks will be Florida joins Powerball and then Porto Rico joins Powerball.

any lottery fisherman here?
Love to fish. Mostly I fish at a Lake nearby Lake Hartwell, GA but my dream trip would be to go on a fishing trip to Alaska! One of these days.

the future of mega millions and powerball
Why should Powerball go higher than Mega Millions? Mega Millions currently has a population of 60 million more than Powerball (52 million after North Carolina joins), and even if Powerball was somehow able to grab Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Alaska, Nevada, Mississippi, Hawaii, Utah, Wyoming, and Puerto Rico (assuming the last nine jurisdictions ever get a lottery), under today's population, Mega Millions would still outnumber Powerball by 14 million people.

states without lotteries
Utah won't have one due to the Mormon influence. Nevada doesn't need one, as it will only compete against the dollars available for casino gambling. Mississippi, Ak and AL are poor states (in percapita income) and their govts won't want that influence. WY and Alaska don't have enough population to support a lottery. THat leaves Hawaii.

states without lotteries
I would think Nevada would already have one too. I don't think Utah will be near the front of the line. So I say maybe Alaska. Heh.

powerball and mega million matrix changes
Mega Millions will never get hit regularly as long as they have the moratorium on new states. However, if Alaska, Hawaii, Alabama, Mississippi, Utah, Nevada, Arkansas, and Wyoming ever get lotteries, they'd probably let a few more states in! I'm guessing 2009 for Powerball.

I Won The Lottery This Year For Over 25 M
I'd almost bet if a regular LP poster won a jackpot and traveled to Alaska using a virgin computer, a Yahoo email addy, and a coffeeshop or motel connection everyone on LP would know who it was in an hour, even if they registered entirely new and fresh I think the writing styles, nuances of thought and some hint about the State or region the person was from would almost certainly be recognized by one or another member. The old saw about how you can run but you can't hide probably applies here.Jac
