Kentucky Lottery hits record sales in third quarter
The Kentucky Lottery Corp. earned net income of $56.2 million on a record $198.5 million in sales during its third quarter of fiscal 2006. Mega Millions lottery jackpot increased to $256 million
Is it a record if you claim the cash? Not in Powerball! Since the 8 meatpackers chose cash, is there still a record to be met? Since the works who won the $310M chose cash, is there still a record? Or is it all hyper for nothing?

USA Mega debuts Powerball lottery annuity calculator
Whats all this record stuff mean anyway. Lotsa money is lotsa money. Thirty Million, fifty million, sixty million, who cares! Every one on the LP would be better off forgetting this record business and cheering for the 20-30 million dollar win. More jackpots, more winners, more winners, the better the chance of one of them being us. Fewer winners, means fewer of us have a chance at the jackpot. Decisions, decisions. Record jackpot, or any jackpot. Decisions, decisions.I want to win tonight, I do

Second-largest lottery jackpot in US history won
That's what happened the first time there was a record jackpot after they introduced the cap rule. The cap rule was in effect when Whittaker won the $315 million jackpot - the previous record before Whittaker's was $294 million, so Whittaker's wasn't high enough over the previous record to trigger the Match 5 bonus pool then.

Powerball lottery madness spreads to big media
I agree, Todd. However, it sort of keeps Euro Millions, UK, Canada and other lotteries where no annuity's offered out of the running for 'record jackpots'. If they're unwilling to use that method to make the jackpot awards appear larger than the dollars, Yen, whatever, they're giving away, then they'll never stand a ghost of a chance of awarding a 'record' jackpot. But that probably isn't a motivating factor to them, being foreigners. They'd probably agree with you and could care less whether i

Powerball lottery madness spreads to big media
You can disagree, but I just quote facts. When the record books are written, they are written with the annuity jackpot figures. For some reason, there seems to be a few people who are so emotionally tied to a cash value number that all objectivity goes out the window.Frankly, I could care less about whether it's a record or not, but when I put on my reporter's hat I quote the facts, and the fact is that the cash value does not determine the record, whether you personally agree with that statemen
