Well if you think about it the 600 or more thing really means 1000 or more because there isn't any 600 wins on scratch offs they just want you to know you will pay taxes if you see 500 win and something else on the card.

I haven't even played the new games, actually haven't bought a scratch off ticket in over a week. I've been spending more time at the casino and just playing Treasure Hunt and Match6. This year I did well on scratch off tickets as my first full year playing but I don't intend to play in 2016, plus I'm gonna owe in taxes now which really cut the profit down. At least at the casino when I win $1k I don't have to fill out a claim form.

Well I can now officially say I am done.. Just found out I don't have enough to itemize other than gambling winnings. Which means I owe taxes on all my winnings this year even though I have the losses. Nail in the coffin in the reasons it isn't worth it. Good luck all.. Hope one of you guys hit the big one.

don't know about seniors and taxes but even if u already in the 39.6% tax bracket it probably still does not make sense for the retailer to take the 30% haircut plus it is technically illegal

He was older, and he said the same, $700. I am a sole proprietor myself, and even at the rate I get taxed, it still makes no sense to pay him to cash the ticket for me. I believe seniors don't pay taxes on lotto winnings, I could be wrong. But either way, it's a total sham.

Scratch off winner /Student loan
If the student loan is in default, you should call the lotto district office and ask about their policy. Certain types of debts like child support and unpaid taxes can be collected if they are in default. If you are not in default on the student loans, you should be ok.

I file my taxes online and the 2 times I had claims, I owed the state money. I think I used my tax service vs the free PA State File site. Was that not suppose to be taxed? I have to file next year with the 2 claims tickets, so I am curious if I paid and I shouldn't have.

Kind of ended my drought of not getting a decent win (anything over $50) on a $10 ticket earlier today. A guy ahead of me purchased two of every $10 ticket in the bin at the counter. I thought about walking away but decided to try the $200,000 taxes paid ticket since it's new. Got ticket #019 which turned out to be a Win All for $100.
