OT: but important, $5 VA scratcher flawed
here's how they need to base the hold 'em poker scratch games. instead of going up against an opponent, just base the prizes on how god a hand you have.

Scratch Off Tickets
just wondering what tickets people were playing, I like the ones with prizes of 10 grand or more. The lesser prizes aren't worth spending the moneyyust to win a free ticket or 5/10/20 bucks. Maryland has about 100 scratch games going and i try and get some tickets from evey new game with large payout amounts.

Mega Millions group
Should their be multi-state scratch games among the Mega Millions states? I would be concerned that the Mass and NY tickets (and possibly TX) would be annuity-only, while the same game in the other eight states would have a cash option.

Question on interesting scratch tickets
Wonderer:You probably should not play that game. Almost all the million-dollar scratch games in Mass are ANNUITY-ONLY (as well as your 6/42 6/49)

The Scratchoff Card Scam
Here in New York, there is a different kind of scratchcard scam - directly from the NY Lottery! All current NY scratch games with top prizes over $500,000 are paid in ANNUITY only. There is even a scratch game that has free Lotto tickets as prizes, except they all say 26 ANNUAL PAYMENTS (again, NO cash option!)

Rich for Life
I agree that many players like the idea of a lifetime prize, but, US lotteries should be allowed to offer such prizes ONLY in scratch games, and prohibit annuity-only situations where the prize is not lifetime , eg 20 or 25 years.

NC habit of ending games with top prizes
South Carolina does this primarily with $1, $2, $3 and $5. They'll do it with $10 games if one top prize is left and no one has claimed it if a specific amount of time.. Then again, I haven't seen many SC scratch games that have lasted more than 10 - 12 months in active circulation. I'm pretty sure as far as SCEL is concerned, the available prizes remaining must drop below a certain level before they pull a game but I couldn't begin to imagine what's the limit.

Those of you who keep track of your scratch off spending, ...
Several things are different about CA Scratchers versus some of the more mature lotteries on the eastern half of the US: 1. Higher ticket prices, with big $10 and $20 scratch tickets. We don't have those, ours topping out at $5 tickets. Those higher prices can provide more revenue per customer, as like with potato chips, its very hard to have just one. Say you buy four $5 tickets at a time now, but if there were $20 tickets, you might be tempted to spend more than your usual amount so you
