Online play taking off: Virginia Lottery hits milestone $2 billion awarded
As a LONG TIME VIRGINIA LOTTERY PLAYER.. even with the new management, I have/had a Virginia account: before the so called new system of allowing Players to WIN online, last year I played one of the games cannot remember which one.. online I was just fooling around.. probably one of the Card games.. I used to be good at Blackjack. Bottome line: I was up around 300 bucks.. and I said hmm. think I will cash in.... easy to deposit.. just put some money from your bank account: BUT WHEN I tried to ge

Lifetime laborer steps forward to claim $552 Mega Millions lottery jackpot in Illinois
This was the perfect jackpot win. It is not known where the ticket was purchased, only online, so no one really has any approximate pinpoint to where the winner could be. Also, because IL allows anonymous claim, no one will know the identity of the winner, either! C'mon now DeSantis! Let us Floridians do online sales and complete anonymity!

Accusations of "disturbing" new claims procedures after Allwyn sends investigator to winner's home
The best option is to play online. You can't lose or forget to check your tickets. All small prizes are automatically credited to your online account.

$36 million Mega Millions ticket sold in Florida goes unclaimed
I am thinking it was accidentally tossed out or lost. I just moved and was shocked to find my out of state lotto ticket mixed up with other papers. Especially if you're adhd like me. You have a million things in your head. I agree with the other poster about online tickets, even though they're more expensive or you pay a fee, I love the organization of having my tickets online, being notified and not keeping track of paper tickets. I wish all states did this.

$36 million Mega Millions ticket sold in Florida goes unclaimed
I doubt online sales will solve the problem of forgotten leading to expired tickets. I have read that some people play online have gotten emails from lottery HQ, telling them that they won but they thought the email was a scam. Also too, there are people that do not bother to check their emails either. There is no guaranteed way to stop the now epidemic of expired lottery tickets.

Michigan man drove around with $2 million winning lottery ticket for 4 months without realizing it
This is why I prefer to play online. You can't forget the check, or loose your ticket. Small prizes are automatically credited to your online account. And, if you do win a jackpot, or large prize, the lottery will contact you. All in all, it is a win win situation!

Hoosier Lottery Commission votes to approve $50,000 prize claim to winner whose ticket was ripped up
This is exactly correct. Just redact the bar code or take a picture before you scratch off the bar code and you are ok. This problem is not limited to lotto tickets. People have posted sporting or concert tickets online with exposed bar codes and been ripped off. Just be careful if you post online.

New Jersey Lottery will begin selling tickets online
I think the beauty of online purchases is that the probability of loosing a winning ticket is reduced if not entirely eliminated. You get notified online I assume if your ticket is a winner, I stand to be corrected, where I live we don't have online purchases. If the only thing taking you to the store is a lottery ticket, then being able to do it online saves you time and gas. On the flip side it may encourage more spending on lottery if one is not disciplined. The physical act of ge
