Virginia winners may have to pay for Lottery's mistake
I seriously doubt if GTECH will be going bankrupt anytime soon. They are one of the major players in computerized lotterys in the world.

Pick-Quickpick Question
I don't know about other states, but this is how it works in Texas. The lottery is conducted by GTECH. They are well paid for their services. All of the lottery terminals in the state are connected via satellite or hard line, to a central computer operations hub located near Austin, Texas. The terminals are NOT random number generators. They are fancy machines that can perform all the actions required to facilitate on-line games and scratch card lottery operations. When a customer

Names for Lottery Tickets
Charmin could merge with Gtech, cut out the middle man and Mr. Whipple could host the live ball drawings.

Ky 3 line lottery 6/39
They posted the rules, and it is, as I predicted, a Match 6 clone. First GTech state to use the format.

Does $9 goof point to larger problems with Ontario Lottery?
I forgot to mention, that assumes that GTECH or whoever is running the system is not using sequential ticket codes, which would be a really stupid idea.

GTECH explains pricey N.J. Lottery contract
Connecticut is close to New Jersey, but it's not really a neighboring state. Really, I can't tell you which terminal is better than the other. They all do the same things to me. Personally, I like the look of GTech tickets over that of Scientific Games. GTech just looks more professional. But then again, I'm a connoisseur when it comes to this stuff.

New Mexico lottery spends the most on administrative costs
Like many other articles, not particularly well researched. I used to manage this contract (on the vendor side) so I feel competent to comment. First - the Lottery did have a big problem with expenses at first. Sales were way under what was projected and the place was top heavy and inefficient. They have since raised their prize payouts, lowered some internal costs (as well as vendor fees) and sales are about 75% higher now than they were then. It's true they pay GTECH ov

Michigan lottery backs GTECH, Lottomatica deal
Reading back over this news item, I see that I mis-read the article. GTECH handles the lottories now. They are selling out to the other company. I still have reservations about GTECH having off-shore contracts. What contacts or contracts does Lottomatica have?

Judge: N.C. lottery can keep working, but challenge remains alive
Who can say how this judge will rule? The argument seems simple - taxes are generally defined as payments that government can force to be collected. No one has to participate in the lottery. Shaheen's point about GTECH is well taken. This would clearly constitute force majeur - I would anticipate GTECH would get an extension on the deadline on a day-for-day basis. I would also anticipate that GTECH might assume the risk to continue development work on its own if they chose to do so - th
