My initials are PB (Paul Brno) the same as for Power Ball. and if I win I can't tell my wife because she'll go on a shopping spree! I worked with Sergio Martini who won 10.3 million dollars in Jan. 1996. We worked for the NYC Dept. of Sanitation like 15 guys would give him a dollar to buy them a PB ticket. But he wouldn't give them their PB ticket until a day or two after the drawing. When he won, one guy didn't get a PB ticket. Martini kept working for a year a half to get a 15 year pension guy

I meant I posted about 17 being unlucky in Italy before. LOL, now I remember where I saw it. I believe you stated that a few days ago on some thread I can't think of right now. Are there any countries with good news numbers? I don't have plans to go to Afghanistan any time soon.

Sounds like a good idea simply for the ability to bypass the annoying airport security these days. The lines can be insane. I haven't heard of any clubs that allow you to buy time on private jet flights but I googled a private flight from Miami to Sardinia in Italy and it seemed pricey. $250k roundtrip for 2 people - can it actually be that much?! My lotto dream is to have enough to enjoy a lot of travel - at least 3 months per year. Business or first class flights only. Four and five star accommodation. Great food and wine. Memorable experiences - Machu Picchu in Peru, the Galapagos Islands, Italy, Croatia, St. Petersburg Moscow, the Great Wall of China, Bali, Denali in Alaska, seeing the Northern Lights, cruise the Antarctic, stay in some of the great old lodges in our National Parks, sail the South Pacific, safari in Africa, etc., etc.

It depends on how we define risk and how we perceive buying a $1 lottery ticket. I look at it as probably wasting a dollar because I know I have a very tiny chance of winning the jackpot. A risk to me is if I had a dollar coin, was going to buy a lottery ticket with it, but dropped it into a pool of hungry man-eating sharks. That is where we differ because I consider risk as putting my money into something where the outcome is not certain regardless of amount. To me it is calculated risk to buy a one dollar Mega Millions ticket. I weigh the risk, which is, the ticket I bought matches none of the numbers drawn meaning I lose the dollar I spent to my perceived benefit, the idea I may win a large sum of money and then decide if that it is an acceptable risk for me to take.
