Alleges 'systemic misrepresentation' of scratch games, seeks $100M
Regina lawyer Tony Merchant has filed a class-action lawsuit against the Western Canadian Lottery Corporation (WCLC) and the corresponding provincial agencies over scratch-and-win tickets.
The case is being brought forth on behalf of all persons who, since Nov. 1, 2001, purchased or acquired scratch-and-win tickets from a game order for which all tickets containing top prizes had already been sold, reads the statement of cl

Canada selling booby-prize lottery tickets
The Canadian lottery that regulates sales of scratch-off tickets in three provinces and three territories sells tickets whose grand prizes are already won.
Officials with the Western Canada Lottery Corp in Winnipeg told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. the policy was no secret and customers are advised in small print about the process.
WCLC spokeswoman Andrea Marantz told the broadcaster that, before buying tickets, players can check the corporation's Web site, which is updated weekly, to s

WCLC to clearly define "ticket"
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation is changing its definition of a winning ticket, after a woman was allowed to collect her prize with a photocopy.Earlier this month, a judge awarded a Calgary woman the $100,000 jackpot, even though she only had a copy of the winning ticket. She told lottery officials she'd lost the original. The lottery corporation refused to validate the ticket, before the court decision. Its concern is that someone could come forward with the actual ticket and it would be

How Western Canada does thier Pick 3 draw
I sent a request to wclc asking how the draw is done here is the response i got.
Dear Jamie,
Thank you for your inquiry to Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC).
There are two stand-alone computerized draw machines used for WCLC s regional games such as WESTERN 649, EXTRA and PICK 3. They are located in a secure location that is monitored by video surveillance 24 hours a day. An external auditor, who oversees the draw, selects which draw machine is to be used for any given

Q: If I win a major prize, do I need to have my picture taken?
A: Yes. Under WCLC Rules and Regulations, the Corporation has no obligation to pay a prize unless the winner gives WCLC the right to publish the winner's name, city or town of residence and/or recent photograph. Improvements to the jackpot history pages
Thanks for your hard work. The largest prize listed in the Canadian 6/49 game is wrong from what I can tell. www.wclc.com/FAQ/ lists the highest prizes. Nice that the currency is listed as well.

Ohio MM to get Kicker
Well, ah, no. If you're referring to Canada kicker-style games like Extra (WCLC), Encore (OLGC), Extra (Qu bec), or TAG (ALC), then no, Canadian players don't choose their own numbers. They are all Quick Picks. It would be nice to add those games to USA lotteries, but the big trend seems to be towards multipliers, rather than extra games. For example, South Carolina's Palmetto Cash 5, with its standard Pick 5 play, plus optional multiplier.

The lowdown on RNG predraws in WC
I email i got back from WCLC 0n thier predraws and how they work.
Dear Jamie,
Thank you for your two e-mails to Western Canada Lottery Corporation
(WCLC).
The pre-draw test that you reference is conducted by the computerized
draw machine in order to initialize the draw system, and it occurs prior
to every regional draw. During the pre-draw test, which takes only a
few seconds, the draw machine generates thousands of pre-draw numbers
within itself and confirms that every possibl

Canada's Lotto Max to increase jackpot, add drawing in May
Canadians will soon have a chance to win a bigger lottery jackpot and twice as often.
Come May 2019, the Lotto Max jackpot cap is increasing to $70 million, up from the current $60 million.
Also, beginning May 11, 2019, Canadians will be able to play Lotto Max every Tuesday, in addition to the existing Friday draw.
The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) said the second draw every week means lottery players will see jackpots grow more quickly than ever before.
