I understand the idea isn't to play all the combos, but where is the explanation of which combos to play? That would make it too easy and where is the fun in that?

Back Testing FormulasReply
For example my Classic Lotto file has 1632 drawings and I think I've discovered a pattern that makes it easier to predict at least 10 combinations of which one will match 4 or better. To test it, I create a test file of the first 1600 drawings using only the data in the test file. I do similar tests with other test files, all less than 1632 drawings to see if any have a winner, if not then I have nothing.

I agree, when you go back and test for combinations you already know will come up, it's not back testing. Going back and only using the data you knew before a drawing would be closer to back testing but that's harder so it's not done. All you confirm is what has happened in past drawings which is no guarantee that it will happen again in the next drawing.

If Texas uses an incomplete set of balls it should show up in someone's database as it did some years back when Tennessee changed from balls to a pick3 RNG that didn't print doubles and triples.

Use the last drawing as your base, I've found that the following drawings will have a particular pattern or patterns 9%-19% of the time.
