A California Mega Millions lottery winner is selling his $26 million southern California compound and is ready to downsize.
I will not be looking to buy such an extravagant home this time around, Rick Knudsen said. I am looking to purchase land and build a home and ranch half the size of what I have now. I will still be looking for a great view and to add more ranch animals maybe a few horses and buffalo.
After winning the $180 million jackpot in August 2014, Rick Knudsen purchased 845 a

Mississippi lottery bill advances, but more work remains
Mississippi could be inching closer to creating a lottery and leaving the list of six states that don't offer the game of chance.
The Mississippi House voted 71-43 Friday to pass a lottery bill . That happened a day after the state Senate voted 30-20 for its own version of the same bill.
However, work remains.
The House made several changes to the bill, including requiring that a lottery corporation abide by longstanding Open Meetings and Public Records laws. When the bill passed the Se

Mississippi lawmakers could debate creation of a lottery
Mississippi residents for years have been crossing into Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee to buy lottery tickets.
In 2018, lawmakers could debate whether Mississippi will join the large majority of states that offer games of chance.
Supporters say money being spent on lottery tickets elsewhere could, instead, be spent in Mississippi, creating revenue to help pay for highways, schools or other state government services.
If that money is going to go to educate children and it's going to

Alabama lottery debate: Senators try to reach compromise on 2 proposals
Alabama senators on Wednesday remained divided on lottery proposals as they tried to strike compromise on gambling that has so far been elusive.
Senators began debate on dueling lottery proposals. One bill is a proposal backed by Gov. Robert Bentley to establish a state lottery. The other would authorize a lottery and also allow electronic lottery terminals which can be similar to slot machines or video poker at four state dog tracks.
I think there is a chance that we will get something t

Alabama may try lottery vote in special session
According to Alabama Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh, Alabama lawmakers are being polled in regard to their support for legislation establishing a lottery ahead of a presumed special session.

A special session would be called

Former Anchorage mayor is pushing for an Alaska state lottery
Former Anchorage Mayor Dan Sullivan is in Juneau, Alaska, this week hoping to hit the jackpot: He's trying to convince lawmakers to authorize a state lottery.
Sullivan, who finished his second three-year term as mayor last year, said in an interview that a lottery could take a small bite out of the state's $3.8 billion budget deficit. And he's talked with more than a dozen lawmakers this week about approving legislation to set up a state lottery corporation, which would allow Alaska to partic

A constitutional amendment that would legalize gambling in Alabama authorizes a lottery, casino gambling and expanded Indian gaming.

Three friends honor long-time pact to split lottery winnings
All for one, and $1 million for all.

And to top it all, the threesome's windfall was foretold by an after-dinner treat.
