Okla. lawmaker aims to stop lottery winners from staying anonymous
An Oklahoma state senator from Edmond plans to introduce legislation to prohibit people from forming anonymous trusts after learning they have won a lottery prize. Sen. Starting today, stores that participate in Oklahoma's lottery games will be selling tickets for a new Pick 5 game. Lottery commission officials said Oklahoma's Cash 5 tickets go on sale today, September 1, with the first drawing to be held on Tuesday, September 5. A $200,000 winning Powerball ticket sold on February 25 in Skiatook, Oklahoma, is set to expire August 24th. Oklahoma Lottery players who purchased a Powerball ticket at Mr. Bass, Inc. located at 4000 W. Rogers in Skiatook, should check their pockets and hiding places, because time is running out. Two men representing a trust claimed the $101.8 million Powerball jackpot from the Oklahoma Lottery Commission, lottery officials announced Wednesday. Okla. Lottery has generated $65 million for schools
An Oklahoma Lottery official says that more than $65 million dollars has been generated for education since the lottery began in October. Ticket sales for the state's fiscal year that ended June 30th totaled $207.29 million. Lottery executive director Jim Scroggins says more than $65 million of that amount will be deposited into the Oklahoma Education Lottery Trust Fund.
