Lottery winners get their checks, keep working at plant
A year ago, William Shanteau and his 13 co-workers at a Detroit auto plant were worried their jobs could be gone at any moment.
Now they're all millionaires after winning a share of last week's $96.9 million Powerball drawing.

Store owner guilty of stealing lottery ticket, claiming it as his own
Faces up to 14 years for claiming $5.75 million prize
A former convenience store owner pleaded guilty Thursday to fraudulently claiming a $5.75 million winning Canada Lotto 6/49 ticket as his own.
Hafiz Malik, 62, validated the lottery ticket at his now-closed convenience store near Dufferin Street and Dupont Street in June 2004 but didn't tell his customer she had won the jackpot.
Seven months later, he claimed the prize, according to an agreed statement of facts read out in court.

Missouri Lottery honors 'Clinic Gals'
The Clinic Gals of Dexter, Missouri, have been named the December Lottery Team of the Month, earning the group of Powerball-playing co-workers and friends a prize package of Lottery merchandise.
The Clinic Gals work together in a doctor's office in Dexter and have been playing Powerball together for more than two years.
According to team captain Sherry Medler, a transcriptionist from Dexter, the team formed after one of the nurses who played regularly asked if anyone wanted to join her.

Five-time lottery winner accused of taking ticket from group
It will be up to the courts to decide if a Calgary-area man's amazing run of lotto luck will continue.
Seguro Ndabene of Airdrie, just north of Calgary, has already won the lottery four times in the past five years including two wins of $1 million, another of $100,000 and a fourth prize of $50,000.

Iowa steelworkers group claims $1 million Powerball lottery prize
A group of 10 co-workers from a Des Moines tire-manufacturing plant stepped forward Monday to claim a $1 million Powerball prize they'd won with a ticket purchased a local convenience store.
The co-workers who all produce agricultural tires at the Des Moines Firestone plant are calling themselves The Local 310 Ten because they're all members of Local 310 of the United Steelworkers Union. 12 Michigan women + 2 men share $12.7M lottery jackpot
Twelve women from a small town in Michigan's upper peninsula have claimed a $12.7 million Classic Lotto 47 jackpot.
Michigan Lottery officials said members of the Island Dreamers lottery club made the six-hour trip from Newberry to Lansing in a stretch Hummer limousine on Tuesday to claim their prize.
Club member Debra Cummings said she doesn't remember anything after checking the first two numbers on the morning after the July 1 drawing.

Connecticut man sues friend for share of lottery prize
A Connecticut man is suing a friend for a share of a $1 million lottery jackpot.
Armando Martins of Trumbull claims that he and Nuno Nascimento of Bridgeport had an agreement to buy lottery tickets every week and to share if they won.
Martins says he gave his friend $75 each week to buy tickets. On April 1, Martins said he only has $74 for his share.
