Maryland's lottery director resigns
Stephen Martino, the director of the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency, is leaving his job later this month to become a partner at a private law firm in Baltimore. In a letter sent to his staff Tuesday morning, Martino wrote that he informed Maryland Governor Larry Hogan's office yesterday that he is resigning his position and that his last day in office will be March 27. The turnover at the top of the California Lottery continues with Robert O'Neil deciding to step down at the end of the day Monday after 18 months as director. The top fiscal officer for the Arkansas lottery, who was criticized by some lawmakers and lottery commissioners following an important audit, has resigned. A resignation letter from lottery controller Philip Miley says he and his wife have decided to return home. Miley was controller for Regional Health Care Holding Inc., a subsidiary of St. Bernard's Health Care of Jonesboro, from 1997 to 2008.
