Missouri Lottery changing games Monday
Missouri Lottery players will get a new numbers game Monday, but also lose one.
Show Me Cash, a daily on-line drawing, is set to begin Monday when the twice-daily and struggling Show Me 5 Paydown game goes out of business.
Lottery spokesman Gary Gonder said the new Pick 5-style game would offer players bigger jackpots and better odds of winning.

Is the lottery shortchanging schools?
According to the North American Assoc. of State and Provincial Lotteries, 42 states and the District of Columbia run lotteries, and more than half claim the games boost funding for education. But CBS News chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian found that lotteries aren't exactly providing a windfall for schools.

$254 million Powerball lottery ticket richest ever in Missouri
The winner of the largest lottery jackpot ever sold in Missouri worth more than a quarter of a billion dollars bought the ticket at a suburban St. Louis grocery store, state lottery officials said Thursday.
One person matched all six numbers drawn Wednesday - 9, 19, 29, 42, 53 and the Powerball number 17. The winner of the $254 million prize had not yet come forward. The ticket was sold at the Dierbergs grocery store on Tesson Ferry Road in south St. Louis County.

Those lousy lottery-check scams are mutating again and ensnaring more unsuspecting consumers.
But first, folks, you just shouldn't fall for these goofy scams. No honest lottery in the world gives out free money.
That said, the scams are increasing. And they offer sneaky new twists to create a false sense of security. More scams are using counterfeit checks drawn on legitimate bank accounts of real businesses.

GTECH sale closer as more states approve
The sale of West Greenwich-based GTECH Holdings Corp. to Italian lottery giant Lottomatica SpA this week inched toward completion.
Lottomatica said that the state lotteries would continue existing contracts with GTECH, which it plans to buy in a $5 billion deal that would create the world's biggest lottery operator.

Couple wins $800,000 Missouri scratch-off lottery jackpot
Scott and Candace Pritchett of Houston, Texas, have won $800,000 in the new Missouri Lottery Lifetime Riches scratch-off game.
They opted for a lump sum payment instead of $50,000 a year for life.
Gary Gonder, director of the commission for the Missouri Lottery, said most people chose the lump sum.
