Would you travel to another state to play a lottery game if the odds in the game were higher? Or for any other reason?

We live in a Mega Millions state that borders a Powerball state. We don't go just to play Powerball, but if we go there to visit we'll play an extended play Powerball regardless of the jackpot. It's Lotto, not horseshoes or artillery! Close doesn't count! Yes, I would definitely go to GA to buy MM tickets or SC to play PB if I didn't have such a long drive. When I lived in MA I drove to NH to get "Sweepstakes" tickets (what they used to call them) many years back. However, the contiguous states along the northeast are small and aren't the length of FL. If you count the Keys, that adds another 120 miles or so to the coastline. If I lived in Jacksonville, for example, I might take a Sunday drive to GA.

Why go to another state to play a lottery game when the one in your own state is hard enough to hit...

If I were close to anther state I probably would, but from South Florida to Georgia would take me at least 8-10 hours each way. When living in MA I would drive to RI in 1 1/2 hours, no problem.

I've driven to Indiana to buy tickets every time the PB jackpot have been $180M+. Each time I bought tickets for several draws, so I've only made the trip twice in the last year. Usually I have tickets from the previous time to cash in, so if PB goes longer than six months without a large jackpot then I'm less likely to make a return trip. I do enjoy being in the game when the jackpot is that size even if I don't win. * that which happens most * * is most likely to happen again *

Travelling to another state to gamble (if it IS available in your home state) implies addiction. No. RJ - you are fine, since they don't have PB in your state.

No, if you can afford it, it no more an addiction than traveling to Las Vegas or cruising to the Bahamas to gamble, smoke and drink, all which are available locally. * that which happens most * * is most likely to happen again *
