Todd,

I was wondering if an option of a block feature to lock out outside downloads is possible.

I notice when I open a new page without a lot of outside downloads the page loads real quick.
When the page starts to download outside stuff it takes considerable time. Like outside avatars , Smiley central is a slow one etc, etc.

I can live with the advertisements to load.

Thanks

John

Your web browser has a feature to not load images, but that a little extreme.  I'm afraid the only solution is a faster connection.  I have accelerated it as much as possible by delaying the loading of external images until after the text content loads.

I just wanted to add another thought.  The problem with excluding all external images is that you may be removing the primary feature of the post by doing that.  For example, if the post is a screenshot showing a software feature, then the most important part of the post will be gone.  Getting rid of all external images filters too much.

The point of delaying external images (which is a technique I created myself) is so that you can get control of the page very quickly, and interact with it without worrying about wait for the images to load.  At that point, once you have control of the page when the text finishes loading, it's pretty much irrelevant whether images are loading in the background or not, as you're reading the page.

        Thanks Todd.

With the page loading first I could just pull the page to the text to read while the outside is loading.
