I mostly play the p-3 games. Once in a while I'll play fantasy 5, but that's about it. The JP odds are just way to rediculous. To hit the lotto here in Florida, is about 23 million to one. A lightning strike hit is about 7 million to one. And this is the lightning capital of the world. So 3 different lightning strikes would have to simultaneously hit me to have the equivalent chance of winning the lotto. I have enough problems beating a thousand to one playing for a straight in the p-3...lol I know, I hear it all the time. Someone wins. Yeah, but how many millions lose in order for that one or two people to win? Someone once gave me another perspective of the odds. They said to take 26 quarters and toss them in the air. If they all land heads, or all tails, that would be the equvalent to about 23 million to one. He said to try to just use 8 or 9 quarters, and you'll see how hard it is.

Fantasy 5, Mega Millions and Powerball. I really never play pick 3 or 4.

When you can buy a chance to win several million dollars for a dollar, you have to expect there to be millions of losers for every winner, after all the money got to come from someone. * that which happens most * * is most likely to happen again *

When you can buy a chance to win several million dollars for a dollar, you have to expect there to be millions of losers for every winner, after all the money got to come from someone. True, however, that is not the issue I was focusing on. The odds are the reality. Mike asked a question, and I gave my interpretation of what the differences were from both game types. We all know it takes a lot of people to fund the JP. The mere fact that is constantly bombarded to me by mis-guided people, telling me that someone wins most of the time is not enough to make me say...OH! okay !, I guess I'll just plunk down another 5 bucks because, afterall someone does win. You have to look at the odds. I personally think that people get mesmorized when buying tickets, hoping for a win, without taking a deep look at what they are invloving themselves in. If I offered you a stock in a company that has a 99 percent chance of losing money, would you buy into it? Of course not. I really don't like sounding negative, but the reality is just that.... reality. Sure, people don't mind playing a few bucks a week for the chance of hitting big. I just want to remind everyone that the obstacle is much much bigger when they really take a deep breath and sit down and look at the overwhelming odds against it happening. Having said that...Good luck to everyone.

LOTTOMIKE I'm not sure what you're consdering numbers games and jackpt games, unless you mean Pick 3 and 4 as numbers (aren't they all numbers games?) Anyway, I play, in order; Pick 5 Mega Millions Lotto (Pick 6) Pick 3 Pick 4 Powerball if we go to a neighboring state. None of them are every draw, and I'm strictly a $1 - $2 player. I play Pick 5 the most because I figure you'll hit a solid 5 before you ever hit a solid 6, if you ever do. doesn't mean I don;t try for the Pick 6 and MM and PB, but I realize we're all "bucking the tiger." TRIVIA: In the days when most gamblers were illierate, the casinos or game operators put a banner up with a tiger om it to let people know where the Faro game was. The players knew that going up against the odds was "bucking the tiger" - and Fsaro was an even money bet for most of the game (not all). That's why the casinostook it out! The cover of the Kenny Rogers album The Gambler was a picture of a Faro game. It's Lotto, not horseshoes or artillery! Close doesn't count! I sell everything at a loss but make up for it in volume - Milo Minderbinder, Catch-22 There are two kinds of jackpot winners...the ones who remained anonymous and the ones that wish they had.

pacattack05 I understand where you're coming from and that's fine for you but for me if I had wanted another $50 I wouldn't have retired as early. I would rather waste a dollar trying to win millions than spend a hundred to win fifty for sure. * that which happens most * * is most likely to happen again *

Then you are beating the odds. Good luck to you too. I spend five to win five hundred. And when I find the golden goose, I can multiply my bets, thus giving me a much better leverage than trying to hit the big one. Think about it. If you find a winnable solution to something small, you can parlay that small increment, and win much more and maybe more of a comfortable living, even though it might not be flamboyant, yet reasonably acceptable. In my heart of hearts, I think my task at hand is much easier to deal with, when working with p-3. Just one man's opiness...lol Imagine being able to pick 50/50 correctly 80% of the time. Think about what you can do with 23 million to one. 80% ! ! So the moral of this story is that, let's crawl before we walk. That's what my guitar teacher told me when I took my first lesson at the ripe age of 14. If someone had that kind of power on such a relatively fundamental scale, and could apply it to the larger scale, on a regular basis, It would be a miracle.

I mostly play the Pick-5 but when I play the Pick-4, I'll play at least $3 straight and $2 box. Don't have any type of system for Mega Millions so I might get $5 QPs when the jackpot is high. Pac will have to be struck by lightning about 70 times before he hits Mega Millions. Bet that will leave a mark.
