Anybody that has bought scratch-offs has probably fell prey to these ugly varmints. They just "circle around and then swoop in to feed at the most opportune time". They will watch while you do all the work and then zoom in as soon as you turn your back. If you and possibly the person before you bought "x" amount of tickets and there were no good winners, these <snip>s will make a beeline to the counter to buy tickets from the same roll. I have been prey to these scavengers. and so have you whether you know it or not. I have seen these varmints walk away with up to $500 by simply buying that next ticket.

LOL @ "<snip>s" ROFL

Seriously, if you're not going to adopt their tactics, what can you do other than buy more of those tickets? Or maybe not scratch them right away, and not telegraph how your luck went? Come back later and cash your winners or go home and trash your losers.

Very good advice.

I never scratch my tickets at the store. I always wait till I get home.

I trust you wrote your comment tongue-in-cheek.  In case you're not kidding, if you go to a casino and play a slot machine for 4 hours and then walk away, there is no rule of ethics that says the next person can't win on the first try.  That's why it's called gambling.

Yes it is gambling. But it is like playing poker and the guy next to you always gets to see everyone elses cards before he bets. Adopt their tactics? I would rather lose honestly than win dishonestly.

Uh, not trying to be ugly here, but isn't that kinda like saying that the guy who wins the Powerball jackpot is cheating because he waited for all of US to buy up the losing tickets first? LOL

A few jackpot winners have thanked the losers during their press conference. LOL

Heh Heh Heh ... You can't compare apples to oranges. If I knew that a lottery machine was going to spit out a ticket that at least doubles my wager within the next 30, I would be the one thanking the losers.
