I was wondering how lottery pools for powerball or megamillions are run.

Please give me this info.

How many people are in the pool?

How much does each member contribute per drawing?

How much does the team spend on average per drawing?

How often and how much do they win?

Do they play every drawing?

You can search the news forum for lottery pools, usually when they win they make the news.  Also you can check this thread started by Tom Dempsey.

He joined LP in January and was active for about a month trying to get other members interested in his Lottery Club ideas but haven't been heard from lately probably because he didn't get much response, however some members did mention how their local pools were working.

Can anyone in a pool answer these questions. Not interested in starting a pool just want to know.

Here are the answers for the pool I am in.

How many people are in the pool?

Varies. Lately it has been 30 to 50 people.

How much does each member contribute per drawing?

Left up to the person. The more they pay, the bigger their share of jackpot.

How much does the team spend on average per drawing?

About $500

How often and how much do they win?

Not often enough and so far not enough money to quit playing.

Do they play every drawing?

Only play when the jackpot is over $300 million

Wow am surprised you spend that much per drawing. But I guess since you don't play that much.

I want to know, Do you guys use any systems to pick you numbers and at least gurantee a return?

Yes, we use a system to pick the numbers. BUT, the system we use is not a prediction system. The draws are random and therefore the results cannot be predicted.

The system used does not try to guarantee small wins. Since we buy a lot of tickets for large jackpots (and only large jackpots), we could cover every Mega Ball. We do not do that because we are not interested in winning a couple of dollars. Our goal is to win the jackpot.
