So in a few weeks, I'm taking a mini-vacation down to Myrtle Beach and had an idea for a little lottery experiment. I was thinking of picking a scratch off game and stopping at 10-20 places on the way & back and buying one that ticket. I'll keep track of where i bought the ticket, and scratch them all when I get back home. I was thinking of choosing either Weekly Bonus(hopefully luck into a $400 ticket), Jumbo Bucks or the Junior Jumbo Bucks. What does everyone think? Anybody have any hotspots along the way?

Difficult to estimate how well you'd fare.

With scratch offs, it's being at the right place at the right time.

20 tickets from 20 different rolls...hmm...might produce 20 duds.

The duds out number the winners by far - I consider a dud winning

back what you paid for the ticket too.

You may come across a good one, never know until you try.

Personally, if I were to try your experiment, I'd buy 2 at a shot from

each place, scratch them there - if tic #1 is a winner, save the tic #2

cash for the next stop and do the same. If nothing comes from 2 tics,

move on.

Just don't fall into the next one trap.

As in: The next one's GOT to be THE winner.

You'll wind up putting all 20 stops into one store, lol.

I watched a lady one time stand there frantically scratching away at ticket after ticket.

My guess is that she sunk $200.00 into that machine.

I didn't see any smiles on her face....

If I were to do this experiment, I'd probably do something similar, like buy 5 of the ticket at one store, 5 at another, or maybe even all at the same time at the same store.  If the odds are say 1:4, in theory at least 1 ticket out of the next 4 you buy should win something, in theory of course.

Another thing that might help improve the odds, if this option is available, is to check how many winners in each game are still out there.  The Louisiana Lottery website has a whole page devoted to scratch off tickets and it clearly states how many winners of each amount, all the way to the top prize, are still available as of a certain date.  IF there are more winners available, perhaps you can pick those tickets and improve your chances of winning that way.

I've decided I'm going to choose the new $2 game, $100 Winner is has 10,000 $100 winners. I think I'm just going to stick with my normal 1 ticket has each spot and wait and scratch all of them at my neighborhood lottery place when i get back home. I don't want to turn 3.5 hour trip to the beach into a 5 hour trip. Maybe I should just do this on the way back.
