I'm not sure if they have these everywhere.. But in California they have little scanners in every store where you can check your lottery tickets to see if you've won or not.

I've heard from some people that these are unreliable and I should always check the numbers myself.

Any thoughts on this?

We have scanners where you can check your own tickets in my state as well. But I don't really use them. I like to check my tickets online to see if I won anything.

I usually go on the website 1st and check the numbers; then scan it using the little scanners but sometimes they aren't working and you cannot verify the ticket; for example tonight my dad bought a QP - Fantasy 5 with 4 winning numbers which I verify on-line and told him in advance the exact amount of the winning ticket,so when he redeems it, he'll know the correct amount and the scanner should show the same amount as well. You should always check the numbers yourself in advance or ask the clerk to give out a printout of the winning numbers--GOOD LUCKHurray!

I love the scanners for double checking. I have used them in Ky and TN...DO they have them in South Carolina?
