When they're handing you the big check and the reporter asks what you attribute your good fortune to, what will be your ratio of luck to skill?

Statistics tell us that 70 to 80% of jackpot winners would have to say luck if they answered honestly, unless they concocted some kind of yarn about the "skill" involved in playing a QP. Maybe filling out the slip with a calligraphy pen or something. The only skill I can see in winning a jackpot is repeating a top matrix number for the bonus number in a 5 + 1 game. If you've ever played in a group and it comes to picking the bonus number someone will invariably say, "But we've already picked that number." Even at that, should they all hit, it's luck.
You can't hit a jackpot without getting lucky! It's Lotto, not horseshoes or artillery! Close doesn't count! I sell everything at a loss but make up for it in volume - Milo Minderbinder, Catch-22 There are two kinds of jackpot winners...the ones who remained anonymous and the ones that wish they had.

I'd probably just say, it was all luck. "No one remembers the person who almost climbed the mountain, only the person who eventually gets to the top." ThatScaryChick

10 % skill and 90% patience. I know I have the winning numbers. I just can't tell you if there for the 467th MM drawing or the 176,000,000 drawing of mega millions.... "Everybody has to believe in something...I believe I'll have another beer!" = W.C.Fields

BobP You missed one, cause WHEN i win, It will be due to patience. My number started out as a quickpick months ago that I liked and kept as my regular set so cant say luck and outside of playing continusously, there's no skill involved. But I know it will hit some day because I win small amounts quick often. My dilema is having the patience to wait it out for when it does hit, even if it takes years. I truly believe in destiny more that luck. If it is part of your destiny to win, you will. Just think of all the people who drop by the store for cigs, or a quart of milk and win the lottery with that "oh just give me a single quick pick with the change" ticket. If its for you, its for you. Maybe all that calculations ,formulas and hot cold stuff works for pick 3 and maybe even pick4, but for the jackpot 5 and 6s, I truly think its destiny and thats what im hoping for. I just play my numbers all the time and on the day its suppose to hit, it will. So for me i'd say 99% patience and 1% luck that i wont be dead by the time it does.

I put 50/50. I would have to say if you are going to do something, like looking at stats, back testing, etc. to try and pick your own numbers then You have to give yourself some credit for doing so.

It's 100% Luck. Using science and mathematics when finding the winning numbers is a waste of time. People who do that might as well find out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop.

Outside of buying more tickets, there's not much players can do to improve their odds of winning a jackpot except avoid playing duplicate combinations. Even that requires more effort than some players are willing to invest so since I do that and some other things when I use my system to pick combinations I would say it's 90% luck and 10% effort. Even luck can't help you if you don't buy a ticket. * that which happens most * * is most likely to happen again *

You can't win all the time; that would be selfish. Just be thankful for the blessings bestowed in your life, and don't expect it to come to you. Sure, it would be great to win big once in awhile, but $ isn't nothing if you don't have anyone to share it with. Well, going to bed for now. Just got home from the hospital. Tuckered out. Good Luck to you!! Pooh Bear

When my mother-in-law hit the keno, I was her primary caregiver. We never changed the way we lived. But, we did order pizza more often. We always invited our neighbors to join us. We thanked God for the blessings he bestowed in our lives, and paid our bills we were struggling with. Good night BobP.

First and foremost, my sister's and I used to do a combination format. WE were lucky! We put a time apart for a lottery intervention everyday, and, we hit at least 2 or 3 times a week. We all have a special gift. Just like you said, if you got it, you got it". Last year was a good year, then my focus drifted. Without focus, and studying the odds, you're right "it's just luck". I also believe that some of us are gifted for one thing or another. For me, numbers has always been a thing for me. 214 is my daughters birthday! God bless

I think some people are born lucky and some people just get lucky if they're in the right place at the right time under the right circumstances like when the moon lines up with Uranus or something. I've known a few people who were born lucky and each one of them had one characteristic in common. They were the biggest cheapskates I ever met in my life. I'm not kidding. They would pinch a penny so tight Lincoln would wince in his grave. I believe they all could have been millionaires if they had played the lottery. But they were just to cheap to spend a buck on it. I saw them win sports pools consistently if they got in and I dragged a couple of them to casinos and they would absolutely kill any slot machine they got on but they would quit in the middle of a streak and take the money and run. They were afraid of losing anything. They wanted to get to the bank and deposit their winnings so as not to miss a day's interest maybe, I don't know. So is it possible the Universe makes cheapskates lucky? Who knows? I just know I wasn't born lucky and I'm one of those who has to be in the right place at the right time when the moon lines up with Uranus. I play one line of birthdays and a lucky number and one line of QP's and it'll be 100% pure luck when I win. . I will not comply. I will never submit.
