Would you play a set of Pick5 numbers that have already won a jackpot previously?

It depends. Let me explain. Sometimes past winning numbers are great because if you take them, start doing some workouts (I'm talking lottery math) than you'll see some good combinations as an outcome. For example, let's consider Take 5's (NY) last 2 draws:

Dec 21: 9. 14. 17. 32. 34

Dec 20: 1. 3. 7. 9. 35

First add them all up for a sum: 9+14+17+32+34= 106 ----- 1+3+7+9+35= 55

Now, 106-55= 51 and 106+55=161

Take 161-51=110

We have an option now to play combinations that add up to 110. Factor in 1 up 1 down system, then try 111 or 109. Finally look for similar past winning numbers that come close to these sums. So in conclusion, I may have not answered the question correctly but playing past winning numbers with a twist or tweak can help!!!!

Brilliant Idea since you gave me this Idea I am sharing thanks when I actually Win.

Glad you like the formula Marcie. This method use to produce some winnings for me in the Powerball but I gave up on the PB and take 5. I only play Pick 4 now since the odds are in my favor. However, if you start producing winnings, that'll be fantastic! Win Big!

Why  are you asking  ridge? Do you need to  pick another set of numbers for you 1 line? :o.

it would depend on who win the jackpot with the numbers,  fer instance if i had won the pot with them then yea, for old times sake and because im as rich as a congressman, i prob would play em again.

now if i just happened to  make up the numbers and ran em thru a history checker like this http://www.usamega.com/mega-millions-search.asp

and found they had won the pot in th past, i probably would discard them. although i have said on occasion i do play last weeks numbers this week. just to be a smarty pants. it has yet  provided me with any smarty panting and just lost me a buck a go unfortunately

mathematically, there is no reason not to play the same numbers again. ea draw is unique and the balls dont have a memory.

if you toss a 6 sided dice and a 1 appears does that mean 1 will never appear again? or indeed it cant appear the very next toss.

I have listed these numbers below 5 of 5 4 of 5 3 of 5 2 of 5 Jackpot$300.00 $10.00$1.00 1 6 18 24 39 2 1 35 254 2 6 9 19 32 2 0 27 257 3 14 25 35 37 2 1 28 265 3 21 29 34 35 2 0 26 285 7 8 16 34 36 2 3 24 239 8 11 18 23 36 2 0 23 273 14 17 20 22 30 2 0 23 257 Total Games 14 5 186 1830 Average 2.0 0.7 26.6 261.4 Total Drawings 2564 as of 02/26/12

I would have a tendency to take a close look at the numbers 7 8 16 34 36 which hit twice. But I would also look at the 3 sets of  numbers that matched 4 of 5.

 7 8 34 35 36 7 8 24 34 36 7 8 16 34 39

If you threw 24 35 & 39 into the mix - you would get the following.  And you would have match 5 of 5 - 5 x's and 4 of 5 - 4 x's - Just something to think about.

AFFIRMATIVE!!!

This type of strategy is unlikely to produce a JP winner BUT, it could likely match 3 of 5

now i'd buy that for a dollar!!!

Being a new yorker and a 9-11 survivor...let me tell you somethingabout the ny lottery admin

they suck!!  they changed the website to something that is almost worthless...

is used to be able to find winners by using the data search filter option...but that was dismantled...

now they have a VTRAC type system of past data...you used to be able to go back to 2001 for data...now its only like 2007

good for nothing crooks...nevermind finding data for mega millions or powerball...IMPOSSIBLE!!

i have to go all the way to pa or texas to get good workable data...i used to be able to stay in new york!!!

Lying cheating thieves!!  Sorry to get off topic...

But really its NOT off topic...now...according to  little know old A+ program...the gremlin of lottery programs...

there are approximatel 33 combinations...that have repeated a jackpot...now thats a lot...granted tracking one of thes to hit again is very difficulty...but did i hear somebody said the NYL told them this incident never occurred?

That really makes me sick...

i would list them all but that is boring and time consuming so i will give you three of my best top ten take five picks to repeat as a quint...i hold the golden ones...sorry guys.

1)5-9-10-21-38

scored on draw #143  7/09/93

scored on draw #1888  5/28/02

2)8-10-18-20-36

scored on draw# 3470  09/30/06

scored on draw#5051   02/02/11

3)DRAW # 3771 and #4007

4-13-16-32-37

i apologize for any errors as i am getting this from the gremlin software...and I am unable to verify at the NYL website because it is just a big non functional marketing turd...that could be better...its not even good enough to be a turd,

its more like a wet runny turd.

I will admit its pretty...but player be warned...when the PB/MM jackpots get very big...then the website goes into Jackpot Mode....which is completey non functional for all games in new york...so again i have to go to TX for my data.

With that said...good luck everyone!!!

The reason I asked is because I played a set of 5 numbers in Va. for 48 straight draws and they came in (all five) the day after they expired on what would have been the 49th draw. Would have been 100k. I started playing them again and hit 4 numbers for $100 a couple months later. Then I stopped. Lately, I've been playing them again. Just wondered what you guys thought. FYI, Ohio Rolling Cash5 (5/39) has had 2439 drawings since 10/04/04 and only six combinations repeated.  That means 6 times of 2439, not playing a combination that had already won might have been a bad idea.

first I voted no, but I changed my mind, so now I vote yes.

Depends.  For MM or PB?  Probably not.  smaller games?  yes.  and when I go q/p its all a matter of luck so who knows what I would end up with.
