I have lost count of how many times this has been discussed and polls taken. It always comes out that the best option is CASH.

A lotta property, away from big cities. Yes, somewhere nice, quiet, isolated and all trees, land, animals and God's great big beautiful sky for miles around. Perfect.

I would take the Annuity Option, (1) I would collect the $310,000,000.00 over the term of the payout, talking about tonights Power Ball Jackpot for Saturday 2/11/2012. (2) I would get an annual income for the rest of my life expectancy, and should I die before that time the remainder can always go to family. Everybody has their own choice, for their own reason and to that I say to each his own. Good luck eveybody. -Michael "Don't be a Dummy, Make 'Dat Money"

Either way i could deal with one or the other. There's a saying if you cant handle money when you have none , when you get some you still don't know how to handle it when you get some,LOL . Look around and you will see what i mean. Some people get money and they blow it right know. Ex tax time. Mitch

share market has gona gang busters around here lately, and %10 div yeild is no longer avail. my nice easy math of 10% earning , %7 after tax is all messed with. but a 5.2% return after tax on 200 mill is 10 mill a year, thats %8 div minis 35% tax,. 10 mil is after taxes are out,. just buy a %8 yield stock, in a company name., pay yourself a wage as manager,. and any spending money you dopnt pay your self pays company tax rates not personal. but ifyou wanted the pay could be $10 mill a year. no annuity, no end in 25 years. for ever. mon/ lotto [27] 38 tue/oz lotto [] wed/ lotto [ ] thu / power ball[1.65] sat/ lotto [] sat /pools [18.30] keno [112] 66 scratchers [ ]

On smaller prizes, of under $1,000,000, I would take the cash (should I be that lucky). On $1,000,000 to maybe $4,000,000 I would likely take the annuity. With the Colorado Lotto, the cash amount is 1/2 the jackpot, so a $1,000,000 jackpot is reduced to $500,000 cash. Then if you assume fed and state taxes eat another $200,000 then you're down to $300,000 or so. In that case, I'd rather just take the annuity. A $1,000,000 win pays $25,000 for the first year then increases 3.7% every year for 25 years. If I were so lucky to win over $4,000,000, I most definitely would take cash. just voted cash, you can always buy your own annuity, but i do laugh at that 1 tv comm. where they're on the bus, singing like an opera. even sing along with it, but that makes my dogs bark and whine LOL. Extraordinary Popular Delusions & the Madness of Crowds -- Charles Mackay LL.D.
