I was wondering why is it that there seems to be a patern of winners popping up in the mid-west, south, and east coast? Why never WA, OR, or CA for that matter and i have seen the pictures of numbers from each state and it looks way different than WA lotto machine spits out.. Can someone elaborate on this topic and thanks..

I think you are the first blogger in the history of LP that listed CA as a state that rarely wins. I will leave it to the more articulate members to levy a response to your grave concerns.

Arizona is considered the West! CA doesn't have PB but has won MM quite often. Since the numbers are drawn at random, states will win at random. There is not a conspiracy to let certain states, cities, ethnic groups, male/female, rich, poor etc win. All who buy a ticket have an equal chance (1 in 175,000,000) to win. The machine that does the drawing does not know who or where the winning ticket is from or if there is even a winning ticket.

Well it seems to me that WA state is rare when it comes to PB and MM winners... I find it odd that others states have more winners and i wonder if it is demographics of more people per captia in a state?

CA isn't a PB state yet, that may be the reason they've never won, but as a MM state they have won their share of MM jackpots. Next year when they become a PB state, they will win their share of PB jackpots too. * The fundamentals of winning a lottery jackpot * * play a lottery you can win *

So let's just go with my conjecture for now.

According to CNN California joined powerball today and they're in for Sat. drawing April as LP article indicated. If you check the CA website it reflects the same thing. I begged the MUSL to give me a few more months before CA joins and "hog" up all the jackpots. They agreed.

CA players can fill out their PB bet-slips, and pay the lottery retailers for their PB tickets before April 8th, they just won't receive any tickets.
