It always amazes me when I write to the Florida Lottery and ask a specific question - how they spend the time researching and coming up with a precise answer to the question. I asked if the new Gold Rush ticket will have the same or similar odds for $500 as the current or past Gold Rush tickets and here is their well thought out answer:

I swear, man. They do that every time. I got a similar answer when GRT was first released--they touted it as being the newest addition to the Gold Rush family--offering the best odds EVER for prizes of $30 -$500.... So I wrote them-- even with good odds of 1:196 in GRT to win $500, the odds are not at all the best ever. The original Gold Rush was 1:175....and then I realized that they were saying it's the best odds at winning $30-$500 because THERE WASN'T previously a $30 prize level! Ha, remember? Gold Rush was either a break even or a $40 win. The whole concept of the Gold Rush Tripler was the easy odds at winning $30, a previously non-existent prize.
For this recent survey about the new Gold Rush being designed, one question asked about which was more appealing: "Loaded with $100-$500 prizes" and others were something related to "$160,000,000 in prizes!"
I chose the "Loaded with $100-$500 prizes" because that's the only really easily attainable prize level! Who cares if they give you the chance to win 100k or 250k in addition to the top prizes of millions??? I'd rather be able to regularly hit $500's than have a one in 60,000 chance to win 100k... Anyway, the FL lottery is very slick--in their game designs, advertising, and question avoidance!

$30 prizes on a $20 ticket are <snip>ing lame. Especially since with almost all $20 tickets the lowest 3 prize amounts are $20, $25, and $30.

Nothing major but got a win all on $2 "30,000 Payday". Hopefully this is a start to a good day, I'm headed to Tampa Hard Rock to use my "Secret Free Play". I hope it's more than $15 this time. Geesh!

I decided to cash in a $100 win off a roll I previously purchased and buy 5 more of the same ticket off another roll. The first three tickets were duds. The fourth ticket won $40 and the fifth ticket had this gem:

Well after not winning the raffle at the casino yesterday, stopped for gas to fill up on the ride home and got this. Not great but $20 from $1 ticket I will take any day of the week.
