It is not random, it is pseudo-random, I think the lottery depends on the last draw to generate the new numbers.

If anyone reverse-engineered a PRNG lottery to accurately predict future drawings, they wouldn't tell strangers on the internet. It might be possible, but the only ones who know for sure are the ones who've done it.

You could use the SEARCH function.

Couple of things though....

1. You have to know if your game is using a pseudo random number generator (PRNG) or a true random number generator (TRNG).

2. The Eddie Tipton mess proved the need for some changes and I'm not sure anyone knows what changes were made. Even if you look at his defense it doesn't help. He claims he was exploiting an existing flaw in the system. He found if the draws were on Wednesday or Saturday, after 8:00PM the numbers could be 'predicted.'

Does that mean the computer was listening to white noise to generate a seed until 8:00PM cutoff and all he had to do was substitute the seed?
Or does it mean the numbers were actually generated at 8:00PM and all he had to do was substitute his numbers for the ones that had been generated?
Or is there another possible reason he was able to 'predict' the numbers based on the status of the computer at 8:00PM, Saturday and Wednesday?

In the aftermath of the Tipton mess, the Des Moines Register used "data of winning drawings in 37 states collected by the website LotteryPost, the Register identified more than 100 drawings over the past 25 years where the same game generated identical winning numbers within 365 days of each other."

"Multi-State Lottery is an umbrella gaming organization that is owned and operated by 36 member lotteries, including the Iowa Lottery. Many of its members use its random number-generating software." (This is the lottery arm Eddie Tipton worked for. He claims at least 17 states were using what he termed spaghetti code at the time he was there)

"As a result, the Iowa Lottery no longer uses Multi-State Lottery computer software to draw game numbers." You have to wonder how many other states have opted out as well, and/or what changed have been made.

And if you believe the lottery is generating the latest draw from the last draw you could simply determine how they got from one draw to the next and go from there. (Keep records and see if there is a pattern)

It would be insanely irresponsible of a lottery to generate numbers that way because it makes reverse-engineering an attainable goal. The third party auditor would say shut that merde down tout de suite. Cracking a lottery's PRNG depends on cracking the lottery's random seeding method.

Did you read his second post?

I don't disagree with your point of it being "insanely irresponsible," to determine one set from another. But I'm not against a simple, quick test to determine if what he thinks is true.

But going back to Prof Buchanan:

"Normally simulation and modelling applications use PRNG, so that the values generated can be repeated for different runs, while cryptography, lotteries, gambling and games use TRNG, as each value which is selected at random should not repeat or be predictable. Eve could thus guess the key created by the method that Bob uses to generate a key. So, in the generation of encryption keys for public key encryption, user’s are typically asked to generate some random activity. The random number is then generated based on this activity.

"Computer programs, though, often struggle to generate TRNG, and hardware generators are often used within highly secure applications. One method is to generate a random number based on low-level, statistically random “noise” signals. This includes things like thermal noise and from the photoelectric effect."

So my prime concern is if his lottery is using a PRNG, and not, as Prof Buchanan points out, a TRNG (like lotteries use).

The last time I looked both MM and PB are live ball drawings. Do all live ball drawings (Keno, Bingo, etc.) depend on the last draw or just the MM and PB?

That's most of today's society due to social media. They draw conclusions about complex problems based on half truths or half lies without hearing the other side or considering how what they do not know could change their perception. If it confirms what they personally believe all the better.

To crack a code, there has to be something hidden within the code, a message, formula, whatever. The lottery results do not hide a message, there is no hidden formula waiting to be found. If there was, it would likely be, "Ha ha, you lose again."
