Republican President, the great emancipator, was inaugurated for another term of office

With the end of the disastrous Civil WAR in sight, leaving 700,000 American men dead in it's wake and wounded without number, empathically ,Lincoln declared:

"With malice to no one, with charity for all with fairness in the fight as God gives us to see the right , let us strive to finish the work we are in , to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan to do all - which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves with all nations."
