Since I am blocked from Konane's blog I need to answer Todd, whether or not he reads this. How can you possibly put Gerry Studds in the same category as Adolph Hitler? Gerry Studds was gay. PERIOD. He didn't plan the extermination and genocide of an entire group of people or teach hate, start a war, do experiments on children or throw them into ovens. I'm from Massachusetts. (When I was at U of Mass in Boston, Barney Frank lived in the upstairs apartment I rented on Marlborough St. Just a coincidence. I didn't know him.) In 1983 Studds admitted to having a relationship with a 17 year old page in 1973, 10 years earlier. He even had a televised press conference with the former page who said it was consensual and none of their business. To the best of my knowledge, no laws were broken. Now, as stated above, I am not excusing this, but he was in his 30s at the time of the relationship in 1973 and was re-elected to Congress until he retired in 1996 at 59. However, why in the world did you compare him with Hitler? He fought for Human Rights. Remember, the PEOPLE kept voting for this man. Do you think he was one of those BAD Americans (your label) because he opposed the Viet Nam war? I have no idea what kind of garbage you are throwing out just to defend Konane's insensitive, inappropriate slander. Mark Foley has definitely committed a crime and should be in jail. He solicited young pages on the internet and some of the instant messages he sent were disgusting. He asked one 16 year old if he made him horny! Hitler was definitely a pervert, but his perversion was that he had no regard for human life or decency. I guess the only way the extreme radical Right can save itself is to re-write history.... [ More ]

Rick, I think LP went down for maintenance at 10:01. I'm surprised my comment was posted. Lately I've been writing them on notepad and then copying my words into the comment box. Sorry you lost your comment, because I would have been interested in what you had to say, but I know how it's tough to start again. Sometimes when that happens I blank out and can't get into a writing groove again. Thanks for your comment. I hope my previous comment isn't offensive to any members, but I'm getting sick of making sure I'm politically correct all the time.... [ More ]
On another note, I don't want to be controversial, but I hate the word "Gay." I remember every word from West Side Story and I used to sing all the time "I feel pretty and witty and gay! And I pity any girl who isn't me today." Now the words have been changed to "pretty and witty and bright. And I pity any girl who isn't me tonight." So somebody tell me puhleeeze!! Why should a classic musical be edited? I'm really glad they didn't use the word "Happy" because then there would only be... [ More ]
I'm not going to write it all over again.

Good post, Nancy. I agree with you 100% and dead men aren't going to change the fact that a 52 year old congressman was IM'ing pages and asking them if they were wearing boxers. Homosexual behavior with underage men seems to be more appropriate than consensual heterosexual sex nowadays.

Anyone have the new morals rulebook? Mine must be outdated.
