I agree. When I won a small jackpot I told my family I would pay off a bill they were having a hard time paying. And I did...but I know them well enough to not just hand over cash. They were happy and haven't hounded me since.

I hate it when others make suggestions about how a lottery winner should spend their winnings.

Besides the Government taking your money at gun point and spending it as they please, I do not want any others thinking along that way.

It is freedom of speech but I have the freedom to say NO.

It is almost a given that Lottery winners are asked to give to Charity. If the charity is honest and trustworthy then it will still be there in another year. It can wait.

Lottery winners must keep a business like manner. If you cannot say NO then hire a financial adviser who can. Be consistent with your daily transactions.

That is my two cents!
