I used to work part time in between roughnecking jobs for a friend of mine in his family plumbing business. His dad loved to bet on NFL games and often said the sames were "scripted". There was a Monday night game back in the 1980s, Redskins at home. The O/U on this game was 38. the score was 27 -10 very late in the 4th quarter. The Redskins get the ball on the the team's 20. Then they get down to the 10, first down. They keep letting the clock run without calling a time out. I learned my lesson about wagering on football w/ Super Bowl XIII in 1979. I bet my roughnecking paycheck against that of my driller/boss and even negotiated Cowboys + 3. The final score was 35-31, Steelers. Thank goodness I could charge groceries at my home town store as well as having credit at my gas station.
