Horses will lie down in a pasture, but seldom for very long.   I'm sure there will be someone who is more in the know about horses that would argue with me, but I wouldn't debate them on it, but would just fall back on it having been my own observation.

Growing up in Texas, I've always heard A fartin' horse never tires. but if that's true, then why are these horses sleeping?

I think someone fed these horses some hominy, maybe some pinto beans. Those foods always did my ex that way after she fell asleep.

The next morning: Why did you sleep on the couch?

Oh, I was just having trouble falling asleep and didn't want to bother you. I'd tell her...that was better than admitting I didn't want to be asphyxiated in my own bed. I used to think I'd bring home one of the sour gas (hydrogen sulfide) alarms from the drilling rig for those noxious nights .
