Hold Your Horses!

Published:

I mean hold your NOSE around horses!

Growing up in Texas, I've always heard "A fartin' horse never tires." but if that's true, then why are these horses sleeping?

I think someone fed these horses some hominy, maybe some pinto beans.  Those foods always did my ex that way after she fell asleep.

The next morning:  "Why did you sleep on the couch?"

"Oh, I was just having trouble falling asleep and didn't want to bother you." I'd tell her...that was better than admitting I didn't want to be asphyxiated in my own bed.  I used to think I'd bring home one of the "sour gas" (hydrogen sulfide) alarms from the drilling rig for those "noxious nights".

Heard about getting it direct from the horse's mouth...... but this stinks :-)

It's been my observation that pastured horses will generally sleep standing up but horses like these in protected stalls lie down. Horses will lie down in a pasture, but seldom for very long.   I'm sure there will be someone who is more in the know about horses that would argue with me, but I wouldn't debate them on it, but would just fall back on it having been my own observation.
