LottoVantage, I just went through this with my grandmother last year. You spend as much time with her that you can. I'm glad to hear she will allow the treatments. My grandmother refused any treatments of any kind. She would only take medications and breathing treatments. They also put her on steroids to help build up her lungs., which did help out alot. Whatever you do, don't let them put her on any sedatives. My grandmother panicked when she smothered and it caused her heart to race and she had a stroke. So they gave her a sedative to help calm her down. But it almost killed her right then. When they took her off of the sedative she was more able bodied and we could talk with her. Had she taken the treatments, I'm sure she would still be with us today. But she was just set on not doing it. (For one, cause they couldn't sedate her to run the tubes down her. They kept trying to do that to her while she was awake. So I can't blame her for refusing.) And her stomach just couldn't take the chemo. She was in her 80's., so you can imagine.... [ More ]
