What really amazes me is when they wear those pants and then scratch their heads wondering why they can't get decent jobs. Whether society is wrong for enacting such laws as this is not relevant. Sometimes you just have to go along with the flow. When the new management took over the airport last year, they made everyone wear dress pants, dress shirts and ties. Incidently, many States have laws allowing women to walk around topless - which is pleasurable privately but nonetheless, still offensive to me in public.

The same dilemma in dress code if I remember correctly was in England or there about about people going to mallsm wearing hooded shirts. The called them hoodies as I recollect. Kep your face covered so as not to be recognized.

Scary, if it were the Federal or even the State government passing these Nanny laws, I would agree with you. Don't waste my tax money on stupid stuff like this! But this isn't about that at all. It's a town ordinance and the people are being fined $25, not arrested or incarcerated at the taxpayers expense. Unless I am reading this wrong, this is like giving someone a jaywalking fine. Now, what could be more stupid? The coast is clear and you dash across the road, but a copy fines you $50 bucks for not doing it on the crosswalk. Reason: It's for the safety of the general public. Same as pants that sag way below your underwear. They're just saying that to raise the standards of the community, they want to rid it of any dress style that the general public fines offensive. It's not dictating anything at all. You can wear whatever color you want, even have holes in your jeans. There are restaurants that require proper dress, i.e., a man must wear a jacket. That's not common these days, but it's up to them. If a small community wants to rid its streets of sloppy looking people, those who disagree with the rule can always go somewhere else. I mean, if you live on the beach in many parts of FL you can't turn on outside lights from May-Nov. If you don't want to get hit with a fine, then don't buy a home on the beach. When I lived on Sanibel, you couldn't put up a fence. I believe they've been able to keep McDonald's out too. No neon signs or bill boards. Only place I ever lived where 7-Eleven closed at 10:00. Many coastal communities voted to keep thong bikinis off of beaches, not allow nude bathing, etc. Oy, were there protests! But many people find looking at someone's naked body offensive & not everyone has a nice butt. So that person can just go somewhere else or live with tan lines! LOL... [ More ]

How about people let others dress how they want. If you don't want to wear cloths like that then don't, but I don't think the government needs to start dictating what we wear.

There wearing boxers if there pants fall down any further then there privates could possibly pop out. Some old ladies might get a thrill out of it most won't. If kids see it could traumatize them possibly could get the offenders some kind of indecent exposure record. Pants were never meant to be worn this way and everyone knows it, the only thing being expressed by this is their immaturity and there butts. Unless I'm wrong, passing laws regarding violent crimes are the responsibility of the State. This might seem silly (personally, I think people should just form a circle around the person, point & giggle) but it's just a local ordinance like parking on the street, or bars being open after a certain hour, etc.

It is entertaining fashion, we get a good laugh everytime we see it. It is kinda like clownish, the circus is probably the only place that might hire one of these fashion lovers. Imagine going to apply for a job at a place of business with your knickers around the ankles and the boxer pattern on display. It is a kid thing eventually they fall and trip and get over it.

Well, I don't know for sure where sagging pants originated. But , I could never have gotten away with it, not with the disciplinarian that my father was. I've seen the pants hanging as low as the upper Thigh area. Come on, that ain't cute!

Some designer saw this as a money making proposition some clothes are designed to look like this. Some home boys no matter what flavor they are think it looks cool to walk around with their butts hanging out to the point that there almost exposing their privates. Well, Tenaj, we all have a right to our opinion (thank goodness) but to me it's the same as saying "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service" I definitely feel we should be spending more time on catching criminals, but there really should be a proper way to dress. When I was in Junior High, a boy (still remember his name..lol) was sent home for wearing too tight pants. There has to be some measure of decency. I hear young people using profanity loudly in the supermarket. Nobody does anything, so sometimes I tell them to "keep it down" and "leave that filth at home." I'm no prude and probably have used every word in the book, whatever that book is, but it doesn't belong in supermarkets where families shop. I feel the same about improper dress. I cannot believe the way both girls & boys dress today. Many of the guys look like gangsters and the girls look like prostitutes. BTW, I just read on Snopes that I was misinformed when I said low hanging, baggy pants originated in prison, although several other sources comfirm this. Anyone know for sure?... [ More ]

Looks like there might be a loop-hole in that law. It says 3 inches or more must be showing - some underwear doesn't have 3 inches total

LYNWOOD, Ill. - Be careful if you have saggy pants in the south Chicago suburb of Lynwood. Village leaders have passed an ordinance that would levy $25 fines against anyone showing three inches or more of their underwear in public.

Eugene Williams is the mayor of Lynwood. He says young men walk around town half-dressed, keeping major retailers and economic development away. He calls the new law a hot topic.

The American Civil Liberties Union says the ordinance targets young men of color.

Young adults in the village, like 21-year-old Joe Klomes, say the new law infringes on their personal style. He says leaders should instead spend money on making the area look nicer
