Look you peck o woods i have a van, a antique car, a pickum up truck and 2 antique motorcycles. Haven't been on a train except once when i went to the b&o museum. I have no intention of being on a train except maybe if i take the old fall special coal train from Baltimore to Ohio up through the Cumberland mountains.

When there's enough of a need for high-speed trains that it can support itself and be profitable, Private Industry will meet that need and not screw it up like government ALWAYS does. If you want a nanny-state that provides everything to you for free, go find one somewhere. We're hemorrhaging tons of money on Amtrak already. We have to subsidize people riding the train because if we charged what it really costs, nobody could afford to ride the train. Do YOU wanna pay for other people's train rides? It costs taxpayers about $20 to serve a hamburger to passengers for $6. Just another huge government-run clusterf*ck. And Americans are tired of paying for it.

High speed rail system? For what? Every study has shown that hardly anybody wants it and hardly anybody would use it. Should we invest billions in it just cuz you and a few others want subsidized train rides? That's the kind of thinking that causes this kind of mess we're in.<br

The old adage that you have to spend money to make money holds water if what you spend money on is what will turn a profit. A high speed rail system from coast to coast shoulda been built 20 years ago they have bounced the idea for over 50 years while other country's are way ahead of use in this area. Now our infrastructure is obsolete why weren't we paying for this every time we paid our water and sewer bills money should have been set aside not at the last minute ask people to... [ More ]
