As I said, though, I've re-thought my position on min. wage, but it was the unethical collusion that put me off going to McD's. Well, that and the closest one was in Amarillo until not too long ago.

We have a place here in town called Pak-a-Burger, a local icon since before I was born. They butter their over-sized buns and put them on the grill...not a huge fat patty, but just right, along w/ diced onions and thin slices of tomato and shredded lettuce.

Same with me for the most part, Mike. But I do go there for coffee once in a while and maybe a breakfast sandwich if I'm running late somewhere. I also get my dogs a PLAIN double hamburger on occasion. Half of the time I have to return it cuz they put EVERYTHING on it. They just throw it in the garbage and make a new one like it's standard operating procedure. I don't like eating luke-warm food that comes out of a drawer that was made who knows when.

http://www.seriouseats.com/2013/03/want-real-eggs-at-mcdonalds-just-ask.html

I heard a rumor that Mickey D's eggs were pre-made and shipped frozen in plastic bags and heated up by throwing the plastic bag in boiling water.

After a little investigating on the internet, I'm glad to say that that's not true.

I learned that the eggs on the McMuffins are cracked and made fresh while the folded, scrambled eggs on the biscuits are made from egg product that comes in a container resembling a milk carton.

I also learned you can substitute a real egg for the egg product on your biscuit by asking for a round egg.

I'm glad that's finally settled.

I heard another rumor though, that Dunkin' Donuts doesn't make their donuts fresh in the donut shops anymore but ships them frozen from centrally located bakeries.

And that the only preparation done at the donut shop is thawing them out.

I gotta find out about that now.

... [ More ]
