Ask For A Round Egg On Your Biscuit Next Time

I heard a rumor that Mickey D's eggs were pre-made and shipped frozen in plastic bags and heated up by throwing the plastic bag in boiling water.

After a little investigating on the internet, I'm glad to say that that's not true.

I learned that the eggs on the McMuffins are cracked and made fresh while the folded, scrambled eggs on the biscuits are made from "egg product"  that comes in a container resembling a milk carton.

I also learned you can substitute a real egg for the "egg product" on your biscuit by asking for a "round egg."

I'm glad that's finally settled.

I heard another rumor though, that Dunkin' Donuts doesn't make their donuts fresh in the donut shops anymore but ships them frozen from centrally located bakeries.

And that the only preparation done at the donut shop is thawing them out.

I gotta find out about that now.

I've eaten at Mickey D's exactly five times in my life; three times w/ my brother-in-law, who thought it was the best hamburger joint around, another when I took a co-worker there to buy a meal and he bought me one as well and only one time of my own accord, it being the only place close to the movie theater and the flick was about to start and I didn't have time to go elsewhere.   I don't consider it "bad" food b/c their fries are excellent, but I prefer one of the two locally owned burger places.

The main reason I didn't go there was political. (long story) I've mellowed on that reason, but still don't buy my burgers at McDonalds.

Same with me for the most part, Mike. But I do go there for coffee once in a while and maybe a breakfast sandwich if I'm running late somewhere. I also get my dogs a PLAIN double hamburger on occasion. Half of the time I have to return it cuz they put EVERYTHING on it. They just throw it in the garbage and make a new one like it's standard operating procedure. I don't like eating luke-warm food that comes out of a drawer that was made who knows when.

Nixon was good buds w/ Ray Kroc, going on cruises w/ him on his yacht and Kroc made huge campaign contributions to Tricky Dick. Nixon kept vetoing minimum wage bills and guess who was then (and still is, I believe) the largest employer of min. wage employees in the country?

As I said, though, I've re-thought my position on min. wage, but it was the unethical collusion that put me off going to McD's. Well, that and the closest one was in Amarillo until not too long ago.

We have a place here in town called Pak-a-Burger, a local icon since before I was born. They butter their over-sized buns and put them on the grill...not a huge fat patty, but just right, along w/ diced onions and thin slices of tomato and shredded lettuce. You'd have to be really hungry or a glutton to eat two of them. It's close to eight bucks for a platter w/ burger, drink and fries/tots, about the same as McD's but much, much bigger and better.
