Whether those state lotteries listen to their constituents is a totally different subject. TX and Indiana are shining examples of lotteries that could care less about their players.

Not the issue. At least, not for me, and evidently not for CT decision makers. The issue is whether the States participating in an agreement with PB have right, reason, responsibility, to their citizenry to oversee changes PB (and MM) and be consulted prior to those changes, rather than being presented with fait accompli of this sort.Half the people who post on these threads have expressed a litany of complaints about the Texas Lottery folk and their unwillingness to consider user input.

I like PB too, Bonnie. But PB's going to cease to exist a few draws from now. CT's already leaving PB, along with all the rest of us. The game we're all playing won't be PB. It will be PB's grandson, or nephew, who won't lbear much family resemblence the PB you and I know. That's the reason CT's discussing this thing. They aren't discussing leaving the PB you and I play(ed) and enjoyed playing. That's dying.

Maybe not, but every State with a PB contract would be doing their residents a service if they made a major show of debating the issue in the legislatures, in the committees, and in the press.PB needs to know there's more to making major changes to the system than sitting down in a boardroom with the shades pulled, listening to the MBAs, the accountants, the PR and marketing yes-men and the shysters, then sending everyone out while they make a choice involving a lot of lottery players spread all... [ More ]

I don't care what CT does, but I do agree with the rest of what you've said. Every State probably ought to be re-examining their relationship to PB and communicating their doubts, if they have any, to PB officials.

o-man:You have good points. I believe we need more than one LP member from NY to be effective in making changes in the NY lottery. When I visit stores that sell NY Lottery tickets, I watch to see if anyone plays NY Lotto (terrible prizes) and politely tell the customer Mega Millions is a much better game. Same thing with scratch-offs, if the game(s) bought is/are annuity-only, and/or any of the three versions of Lose for Life .

Well the governor has a choice, a game with lower odds and low jackpots with corresponding low sales or a game with slightly higher odds and (after a big jackpot) better sales. They could just keep the game the way it is now but forget about the jackpot even approaching 300 million. The odds seem way out of proportion now for a game that only gives it's players a 10-25 million dollar pot.
