I feel very pessimistic about any politician listening to the people unless they are people with a lot of money to spend on a camaign. Really it boils down to them just letting more potential tax revenue drift over to other states or indian casinos.

North Carolina wants to keep the money that is going to SC and they can not do that without having a big game like powerball or mega which requires advertising. They should let people make up their own mine about how they spend their money. Do they actually think the people ,they think, can not afford it will not still go to South Carolina to spend their money. What are they thinking.

Too many photo ops and chances for posturing involved during the early stages. Someone needs to think through and have a recipe book ..... sort of like the preachers have, of old sermons to cover just about every eventuality..... but one that studies the phases State lawmakers go through in passing lottery adoption and later changes.... looks at the arguments used by the various factions, examines ways each opposing faction could take the moral high ground, get a lot of photo ops and chest-poun... The Perfect Mouse Trap = Lottery. I am confused why these clowns fails to understand this. Its free tax money without taking the blame for raising taxes. The only confusion should be on how to write the law so no one of importance can be blamed for anything, yet still reap the profits. After that, jump on board the money train.

If those folks put together a good lottery package it ought to sell itself by word of mouth.... But if they try to squeeze it too hard, as most States do, there won't be any word of mouth and they'll have to sell it on billboards, which means they'll need this provision.All they have to do is have a lot of winners and their lottery ought to take off like a rocket.
