NY used to have TWO different online systems at the same time, until early 1994. Now all the lottery terminals are by GTech.

More and more companies are trying to cut costs, most by eliminating employee payroll. One of the first groups to go are Quality Assurance Teams. Obviously, in the case of the lottery, Quality is NOT Job One. The typical senior management response: We'll do our best to ensure it doesn't happen again. You have to wonder, if it can't do the obvious, what behind the cover functions is it not performing

A glitch caused by a routine software update knocked Georgia's lottery network offline early Monday, leaving customers and retailers unable to print or redeem tickets for the games. It was a technical issue that happened as a result of a routine software update, said J.B.
